Collagen Injections for Buttocks?

I have some indentations on my buttocks (cellulite but I don't like to say so :) Anyway, I'm wondering if collagen injections for the buttocks would be an effective way to hide cellulite. Do any doctors even do this?

A: Collagen for the buttock dimples?

Cellulite has no known correction though many things have been tried. At their best, those treatments that seemed promising maybe just caused swelling in the tissues that disguised the dimpling.

Collagen is a short lived, allergy prone filler than has slipped onto the back burner of injectable filler options. Even so, no filler could fix the problem you describe even if you were willing to spend thousands each year having it done and re-done as the material dissolves.

Consequences of Collagen Injections to Buttocks?

I have a friend who went to Mexico to gain a bigger butt and said, collagen was injected in her rear. If this is possible, what are some consequences of collagen injection? Can there be problems? It's been more than 2 years since she got these injections, and seems to be doing fine! I was considering doing the same, but I'd rather do a bit more research on it.

Updated 11/25/09: Where can my friend go to check herself? What's her best way of solving this?

A: Fillers in the buttocks

As Dr. Aldea just said, there is no way your friend had collagen as this would have dissolved totally within a few short months. Some unknown and potentially dangerous permanent filler was used on her and someday may cause untreatable problems. She might get lucky but don't make the same mistake please.
