i am 20 years old and i have slight overbite .i feel like my lower jaw is stopped from moving forward. i want to know that braces will help to move my lower jaw forward ,or surgery is necessary ,i mean i do not want to go for surgery in which my jaw will be cut and tighten by screws. thank you
If your overbite is not too severe braces and an adjunct appliance that attaches to the braces should be sufficient to correct your overbite. If you're looking for a noticeable advancement of your lower jaw, then surgery may be the best choice. Get a consultation and have the doctor use your x-rays, models, and photos to show what would happen with each approach.
I just got off braces and getting an all ceramic crown for that front tooth you see. I currently have a temporary crown which sucks badly. I feel like my braces results are not satisfying me and would like to get them done again maybe but with another better ortho because the first place I went to sucked big time. He was cheaper then most other places so I went with him. I regret it. I will post a picture after I get in the permanent crown. But this is where Im at now. Any advice?
It sounds like you may have fallen victim to the "lowest price trap". I use this term to describe a situation where you are thinking more about price than about value. If you have to redo the braces (or use Invisalign) it will end up costing much more than the "higher priced" doctor would have charged to begin with. However, before you spend any more money talk to your first doctor about your concerns and see if he has a solution. If not, get a second (and maybe even a third) opinion about your case. Perhaps there is a simple way to obtain the results you're looking for.
I started with Invisalign braces, uppers are now perfect but today my ortho put metal braces on lower teeth to move this one tooth. It needs a minor correction as it overlaps the tooth next to it. He put it on the other teeth to help anchor it. About how long it would take for the tooth to be moved in the right position, all it needs to do is be rotated a bit and then pushed back a bit. I see my ortho in a month from now! How long do you think this adjustment will take? Can't wait to be done!
From your description it sounds like it should only take a few months to accomplish the tooth movement. Of course it all depends on just how far the tooth needs to be moved. Figure about a millimeter to a millimeter and a half per month for a very rough idea of how long it will take. Hang in there .... you're almost done!!
