Alar Base Is Wide and Thick after Primary Surgery. Is a Suture Cinch Method The Right Call?

I had nose surgery before, nasal bones were broken. Alar bases looks wide and thick. My doctor wants the suture cinch to narrow the frontal part. Does it going to affect my upper lip or my smile? What are the risks?

A: Use alar cinching suture to narrow nostrils

It's hard to be very specific without seeing your nose. I don't typically use cinching suture techniques when narrowing the nose. Check out my link below for a fuller description of some alar base narrowing techniques.

Worried About a Point I've Noticed After Revision on my Nose (photo)

revision on my nose its now 20 days passed but at the top left side of my nose theres somthing pointy its soft when pressed on and my dr injected cortisone on day 16 plz help will it go away by itself or injection s or what plz plz help me

A: Point on nose after revision rhinoplasty

I'm having difficulty seeing the point you're noticing so it's hard to say whether it will go away on its own.

At this stage I would continue following up with your surgeon to make sure the nose is healing well. It takes about 12 months for the nose to stabilize so you're quit early in the healing process.

How Difficult is It to Smooth out a Bumpy Dorsum Due to a Bony Callous?

I know that all rhinoplasty revisions are complicated but, in that context, how difficult would it be to smooth out a bumpy dorsum? It seems I may have developed a bony callous that is very palpable and visible. I don't want my bridge simply whittled down but would rather have the edges smoothed out and perhaps an onlay graft added for added camouflage. Can you tell me what would be involved given my explanation of the problem? Thank you.

A: Smoothing callus on bridge

Sometimes bumps on the dorsum can just be filed down, but depending on the exact location and size more may be required to adequately support the area afterward.

More could be said about your options after seeing your nose.
