I'm considering a tummy tuck with liposuction. I read the results of a study that the fat cells redistribute after such procedures. My question is do these procedures make weight loss more difficult after surgery? Is there a correlation to the weight of the fat cells removed and weight gain after surgery? What is the optimum bmi of body fat procedure for a tummy tuck? Can Is it possible to achieve optimum results from a tummy tuck with out liposuction of areas such as the flanks?
This is an FAQ. Here's my spiel:
- The stuff removed with TT and lipo is mostly fat. Find out the weight of the stuff removed from your surgeon.
- Subtract that weight from your preoperative weight. For example, you weighed 142 pounds preoperatively and the surgeon removed 4 pounds of stuff. Your adjusted preoperative weight is now 138.
- If you creep back up to 142, you have gained 4 pounds of fat and I don't know anyone who can say exactly where it "will go". If you creep up to 152, you are unlikely to be happy with your postoperative result but it is not because the surgery failed.
Soooooo ....... don't use body contouring as a way to lose weight. It's about shape, not pounds.
If you find an easy weight to win the battle of the bulge, please let me know.
I wish I had a dollar for every time we get this question. I'd have a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
What Can Help with Low Back Pain After Hips Liposuction ?
Time will help this. Some of your pain may be from alteration in your sleeping position. Sometimes a bunch of pillows or a body pillow can help you find a more comfortable position for your back. Also, warm compresses can help but be careful. You probably have some skin numbness and too much heat could burn your skin. Also, make sure you are getting up and around. Gentle movement almost always helps.
I'm female, 27,5'2'', 120 pound. I'm athletic, but all my life have had fat in my lower abdomen. I'm asian and have skin that scars VERY easily. I was reading on Realself that a doctor suggested VASER lipo since it worked better on asian patients "since they tended to have fibourus fat" What type of Lipo would work best for me? Are there any special considerations for asian patients? I've found someone sites that talk about "asian liposuction"--is there such a thing?
Asian fat does not differ from that of any other race. There is no scientific evidence to support that claim. A surgeon may make an hypothesis or a guess that Asian fat is "different," but that would be only opinion or worse yet, hype. At the last meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgery New Technology Forum, Vaser liposuction was not shown to have superiority over other techniques. Promoting Vaser is primarily a means of marketing, as is the claim that there is some different technique to use on Asian patients. Darker skin types, including Asians, Hispanics, Greeks, and Afro-Americans, tend to hyperpigment around scars. It is important to use fade cream around the scars after surgery to get the best result. Hope your result is all that you want it to be!
