I had erbium laser resurfacing done under both eyes on 7-19-11. I have what looks like post inflammatory hyper pigmentation that has developed under my entire right eye. What I want to know is does that mean that I should never have laser resurfacing done again. I really wanted to do full face later but now I don't know if it is a good idea. I have not spoken to my doctor about the hyper pigmentation yet I go to see him on sept 7th. Should I wait till then to talk to him about it?
Avoiding Sun exposure and using sunscreen as soon as your doctor tells you (usually around 1-2 weeks after the lasering or when you stop oozing and having raw areas). Hyperpigmentation is worse with the darker hair a person has in combination with the lighter skin a person has. Asians are one of the worst in terms of getting hyperpigmentation.
I'm 42 and about to undergo laser resurfacing of my lower eyelids to improve some crepiness of the skin. My surgeon uses the eCO2 laser, which brings me to my question. I've read a few posts from patients expressing concern that this particular laser caused damage to their Malar Bags.Is this a complication that is more likely with a full face resurfacing procedure,or is it a complication to be concerned about at all? Looking for a clarification on the topic.
The malar bags is a consequence of volume loss in between the lower eyelid fat and the cheek fat / volume. You need to either remove the fat in the lower eyelids or do volumizing in between these two structures. co2 laser would be good for the creieness but will be limited
I am 23 years old and suffered with bad acne in my teen years. So far, I don't have anymore acne, I am now left with dark marks, a few blackheads, open pores and oily skin. Can laser help minimize my pores size, remove the black heads and dark marks, and help with the oily skin?
Acne scars can be improved with laser resurfacing but I would suggest a number of things prior to laser resurfacing for the scars. The indented scars can be improved through either subcision, deep chemical peeling, fat grafting with subcision and excisional (cutting) techinques. There is a unique process that I use for this. Laser resurfacing will be the finishing touch on all of it. For the active acne, I would use salicylic acid cleansers, retin A, 15% alpha beta acid lotions, or series of chemical peels to keep it maintained. I would use oral antibiotics for breakouts and topical anitbiotics for small breakouts.
