Botox to Correct Wrinkled Eyelid?
I am 47 and am getting a vertical wrinkle in my eyelids (from the brow area to lid). Is botox an appropriate corrective measure for this or is surgery required to correct?
A: Total FX is a good option for eyelid laxityThe type of crease you describe is more likely due to a depletion of collagen and elastin rather than chronic muscle movements. Neither Botox nor surgery will build collagen, and the location of your crease is not suitable for filler, so I recommend fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing with Total FX.
Advice for Smartlipo Bumps - Massage? Ultrasound?
hi. i had smart lipo done about two weeks ago and everything seems to be healing fine, and i kow its still quite early and that im still a bit swollen but there are these bumps that are beginning to form where the tissue is harder/denser. im wondering what the best way to resolve these quick would be. i have a beach vacation approaching, at 6 wks post op, and i really really dont want to still be showing signs of my surgery. any advice? should i get a lymphatic drainage massage? ultrasound?
A: Shiatsu improves post-Smartlipo swellingAt 2 to 4 weeks post-Smartlipo, the swelling you describe is normal. During this phase your tissue may still be too sensitive for Velashape (radiofrequency and infrared) or even ultrasound. I recommend a shiatsu-type of lymphatic drainage massage. Good luck!
Accutane Makes my Rosacea Redness Worse. What Can I Do?
I've been battling Acne for some time, and I'm seeing great results from Accutane. However, it makes my Rosacea redness significantly worse. I understand I won't be able to get any laser help for some time, but is there any hope for me? My nose is bright red all the time!
A: SPF 50 and Skinmedica "Redness Relief Calmplex" for RednessIn addition to avoiding all of the known triggers for rosacea, I suggest diligent use of sunscreen (SPF 50) as well as the new Skinmedica "redness relief calmplex." This topical product works by inhibiting a prostaglandin (PGE2) which causes inflammation and vasodilation. It also moisturizes the skin with niacinamide and ceramides which is essential while on Accutane.
