How Many Consultations/Appointments Are Normally Required Before Having the Rhinoplasty Op?

A: Rhinoplasty Surgery

At the bare minimum, at least two.  The initial consultation and the preoperative appointment.  A full intranasal and external nasal exam should be performed.  Photographs should be taken of your nose and reviewed in detail with the surgeon.  Surgical goals should be discussed.

When Eyelashes Are Being Pushed Downward, is Eyelid Surgery Medically Necessary?

What are the most common scenarios for eyelid surgery to be deemed medically necessary?

A: Blepharoplasty

Some of the criteria that insurance companies are looking for are:  excessive skin weighing down the eyelids, patients having to look at their eyelids skin and/or eyelashes in primary gaze.  Recurrent skin irritation from excessive upper eyelid skin.  Marginal reflex distance; the distance from the light reflex from the camera to the lower limit of the upper eyelid margin and their results on visual field testing.

Is There a Surgery to Remove Excess Skin from Behind Ears?

Hello, I am 26 years of age and I have bunched up skin behind my ears (post auricular). Is there cosmetic surgery available for this issue and if so what is the typical recovery period? If not, are there any other solutions to this problem? Thank you.

A: Removing Excess Skin

Sure!  This is a relatively simple procedure that can be done under a local anesthetic.  An incision is made in the crease behind the ear, the excess skin is removed and then the remaining skin is closed with sutures.  The scars are very well hidden behind the ears and the recovery is fairly quick.
