What Procedure Will Change the Size and Shape of my Nipples with Minimal Scars? (photo)

I am 24years old, 115lbs, 5'7", I have had 3 children and recently gotten a breast aumentation. I have silicone implants above the muscle. I love the size and shape of them but I hate my nipples. They are oblong and just terrible looking. Therefore I would like to know if there is a procedure that can fix the appearance of my nipple with minimal scarring? I am especially concerned about nipple surgery with my implants above the muscle, should I be?

A: A smaller implant might be just right

Your nipples have been pushed from behind into this shape because of your implants.  You may not be happy with my advice but I would recommend a smaller implant placed behind the muscle and let the look of your nipples correct themselves with this new result.  (And they will)

What's the Best Procedure for Areola Reduction?

I want a procedure that is fast recovery and wont lose sensation? also if i want to prevent from stretching what are the options? thank you

A: Nipple Reduction Involves Scarring

The trade off in getting to a smaller areola is a ring like scar that goes all the way around the new smaller areola.

It goes by several names but "DONUT" scar really says it all for most patients

This scar at times can heal with hypopigmentation (white scar) or hyperpigmentation (dark scar)  The smaller nipple will almost always retain sensation since the nerves are not cut.  And since there is no interruption to the milk duct women can breast feed after this surgery.

With weight gain in the breast there may be some stretching out over time.

This is a great alternative to living with huge nipples.  It also tightens the skin and gives a mild lift at the same time.  If you can live with the scar and be happy with the fact that your nipples are more normal in size this should be your choice.

Nipple Reduction -- is There Scarring?

Could anyone describe the process of nipple reduction (the area surrounding nipple)? Is there scarring? How is the old nipple area made smaller and the nipple itself less wrinkled/more even/no moles etc? Thanks. I have medium olive skin.

A: Areola size

Thank you for your question. It sound like you are describing reducing the size of your areola or the darker skin around your nipple as well as lessening the projection of your nipple. I use a tool that looks a bit like a cookie cutter to determine the ideal size of the areola and remove any excess areola skin circumferentially. I then sow the breast skin to the areola skin. Any time we make an incision there will be a scar. However, with this type of procedure, your scar will hide in the natural color change between your breast skin and your areola skin. You should be able to have nice results without a permanent change in your sensation.
