Are large nipples easier or more difficult to protect from complications or damage during a breast reduction surgery?
The nipples do not influence the type of surgery done for gynecomastia.
If you are actually asking about the areolas (the colored area around the nipple), it's a different story. If a guy has large diameter areolas and wants them to be smaller, that can almost always be accomplished at the time of gynecomastia reduction. Making the areolas smaller allows the surgeon to tighten the skin of the breast a little bit and that can be helpful in some cases.
If a guy has really, really big nipples, it's easy to do a nipple reduction at the same time as the gynecomastia. I've done a few nipple reductions in guys with otherwise really normal breasts because they did not like "nipping out". It's a quick procedure with a high rate of patient satisfaction.
What is the chance of uneven breasts for men after a male breast reduction? How many months after the original surgery is the final result apparent? When should a revision be considered?
Perfect symmetry does not exist. I tell patients that at least plastic surgeons try for perfect symmetry whereas God doesn't even try!
That being said, I usually ask patients to wait at least 3 months before passing judgement on just about any result.
Also, preoperative asymmetry of the chest muscles and/or ribcage is common and will not be helped with male breast reduction surgery. Make sure your expectations are reasonable.
If I'm having male breast reduction liposuction, how should I moderate or limit my exercise routine leading up to the surgery?
Active exercise before your surgery is a good idea so that you will be in good aerobic shape for the procedure. Afterwards you will need to follow your surgeon's instructions so as not to stir up bleeding in the early phase of healing.
