I had a rhinoplasty a couple of years ago. For about a year afterward, my face was swollen. My skin looked tighter and younger. Friends and family thought I looked ten years younger. What causes this? Did the tissues of my skin swell? Is there a way to reproduce this effect without going through surgery?
Volume is certainly critical to the rejuvenation of the ageing face. No question. You would be well served to consult your local board certified professional. I will also add, that as much as volume is critical, you may also be seeing an "aged" face because the skin envelope has also likely developed more wrinkles.
Much like a deflatted balloon, our skin elasticity drops with age. It can be particularly bad after it's been "inflated" as in your situation when you had prolonged swelling. So don't neglect your skin as well. I personally have had good success with fractionated laser resurfacing to non surgically tighted the skin envelope and get rid of some of the fine and moderate wrinkles.
Although this is certainly not a replacement for a facelift, non surgical facial rejuvenation addressing 1. Volume, and 2. Skin can give very satisfying results.
Good luck to you!
