How Long Can You Keep Botox Past the Expiry Date Printed on the Box? Mine Says Oct.2012

I forgot my Vial of Botox at home in the refrigerator when I had my bladder injections done at the hospital. I had to buy a new bottle there. My box at home has an expiry date of Oct.2012. Will this still be stable next January when I have the procedure done again ? Also would it be best to store it in the refrigerator or freezer for that length of time ? Thanks for any feedback.

A: expiration date is there for a reason.

If I were you, I would return it to the place you had to buy it from. If it expires Oct 2012 and you arent scheduled to use it until January 2013 then no, dont use it.  We always keep unused product in the refrigerator. When Allergan ships it to us it is in a container to keep it refrigerated.

Once it is reconstituted (mixed with sterile water prior to use) then it is only good for a short time after that....So for the best results you should have the fresh (unexpired) product.

Help Needed for Sensitive Surgical Scar on Knees, Options? (photo)

Had bilateral total knee replacement 7 weeks ago. Doctor suggested massaging the scar to help with sensitivity and said that I could use any lotion or cream. I have only used normal moisturizers so far. Sensitivity is improving but not fast enough to wear normal clothes yet without getting massively irritated. Is there anything that I can do to help with the sensitivity faster? What is the best lotion or cream for big scars? What will help with the tightness?

A: Scar improvement

The scars in this photo look rather new so I wouldn't risk irritating them with any strong products. I would have you get some Aquaphor Healing Ointment, over the counter, and apply as often as needed. Washing with plain white unscented soap, avoiding hot hot water, will also help.

As you are able to loose weight and the knees will feel better and as your exercise tolerance increases, the scars will gradually improve.

Hope you get better soon!

How Can I Remove or Fade a Large Brown Ulcer Scar from my Shin?

How Can I Remove or Fade a Large Brown Ulcer Scar from my Shin?

A: Hyperpigmentation

Brown pigment will persist in this area unless you get some prescription strength product from your dermatologist. ALSO needed is careful sun avoidance. The sun is always trying to bring a dark spot back so think of the "bleaching" cream as a treatment but not a cure. SPF# 45 at least. All year round (as long as your skin is showing)

Hope this helps!
