Getting Revision Rhino Next Month, Wondering if It's Worth Getting a Small Chin Implant? (photo)

I am getting revision rhinoplasty to fix a bad job caused my septum to totally collapse. Also the original work made it way to feminine. I know it's not easy to just imagine, but the nose is just going to be more of a right triangle as a opposed to the slide it is now. When I look at my profile i notice that harmony between my chin and nose is minimal, and I fear that after surgery the chin will look even smaller. Would it make sense to get a chin implant?

A: Chin Implant with Rhinoplasty Surgery

Chin augmentation with an implant is commonly performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty for appropriate patients. Typically, the implant is made of silicone and placed via a small incision under the chin. A weak or small chin will make a nose appear larger, while a strong or large chin may make the nose appear smaller. Both appropriate men and women can benefit from a chin implant, but men usually require a larger implant.

Based on the photographs provided, you might be a candidate for chin augmentation. However, it's difficult to determine without a comprehensive evaluation. Many plastic surgeons utilize computer simulation to help give you an idea how a chin implant may change your appearance. Speak with your rhinoplasty surgeon who would be able to place an implant at the same time as the revision rhinoplasty. Best of luck.

Procedures for Weak Jawline Combined W/ Chubby Lower Cheeks and Neck? (photo)

I have a weak jawline and chubby lower cheeks and neck. Would a chin implant solve all of these or would i also need lipo under my chin and buccal fat removal if i wanted to address these areas?

A: Weak Jawline and Full Lower Cheeks

A better evaluation of your facial features could be given with frontal and oblique photographs, but based on this lateral photograph I believe you would benefit from a chin implant.  I never remove fat from the face.  Fat keeps the face youthful and as you age you loose fat.  Removing it early makes you look aged.  The heaviness along your jawline and neck could be addressed with liposuction or ultherapy.  Ultherapy is a new non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound to tighten and lift the skin.  You are a perfect candidate for either procedure.

Chin Implant, Fat Transfer, or a Filler?

I am 26 years old and am considered to have somewhat of a weak chin. I have undergone consultations with 2 doctors for lipo in the chin area and both have advised I do not have enough fat to remove. One suggested a dermal filler to create a stronger chin. What are the approximate cost differences between an implant, fillers and a fat transfer? Also, which filler is best recommended for this area?

A: Chin Implant vs. Fat Augmentation or Filler for Weak Chin

The most definitive way to improve a weak chin is with a chin implant.  The use of autologous fat and fillers is a temporary solution or best used to soften the edge of a implant.
