I had some injected into radix and nose bridge area and had blurry vision after.I thought it was like botox and would go away so didn't get too concerned about it but i got worried after readingit could cause blindness if the filler gets into the arteries or veins supplying the eyes. The next day i could not read with my left eye, words were very blurry. objects were hard to to see, the right eye was ok. I went to have some of the restylane removed because i was worried about it blocking the blood vessels to the eyes but it was 72 hrs later. I can see clearer now and can read with my left eye. Could it be that it did get into my blood vessels and caused the vision loss but not complete blindness?
I agree with the other physicians who have answered this question. Dr. McCracken's advice is especially apt, and I would skip the ER route and directly seek a consultation with a retinal specialist. This is potentially a very serious problem and should be addressed immediately.
Are other skin rejuvenating procedures such as laser or Juvederm just as effective for the upper lip?
Although Restylane is the only filler FDA approved for lip augmentation, Juvederm can be used also. Many of us, in fact, prefer Juvederm Plus for its more natural feel. Perlane and Juvederm Ultra Plus are sometimes utilized, but physicians using them would be in the minority. Radiesse and Sculptra are no-no.
Many of us like to place a few drops of BOTOX into the area near the upper lip to give the lip a desirable pout.
im going back on wednesday for a follow up but the girl who injected me said she would add more for free to even it out if it needs it but it looks crazy and I feel like its a bad idea to have the same person fix it after making it look like this =( im really sad because I've always had low self esteem, especially about my lips, but now im even more self conscious about it! I feel like I just want it gone but ill probably have to pay for that!
You should be seeing an experienced physician for this. It is not worth the savings in money by seeing "a girl". Not that you have this problem, though, I would recommend someone experienced with hyaluonidase. There is a catch 22 here though. An experienced and skilled cosmetic physician, by defnition, may be inexperienced in hayluronidase. If you have not run into problems with fillers, you may never have used it.
My advice would be to find the physician, be it a dermatologist or plastic surgeon, who fixes other doctor's problem cases. They are not only going to be skilled, but familiar with the use of hyaluronidase.
You might ask the girl who deformed your lips who she would recommend to fix them. I am sure she is as eager to have this repaired adroitly as you are. Otherwise, your dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Or a medical school's dermatology or plastic surgery department.
You should be relieved that the effect is not permanent and should wear off quicker in the lips than other filler locations.
Good luck.
