Hi, everyone. Recently I bought a voucher online to do 6sessions IPL hair removal treatments. I went to my first treatment today. My skin was not painful during the treatment but I could feel my hair was hot. Is it normal? My skin is really fine for now. Does it mean okay? I was looking at this website and found out many people got burnt from IPL. I'm just abit worrying if I will be like this. Thanks, Maggie
You should be fine as long as you have no blistering or obvious burns. You should feel like you have a sunburn and that should last a few hours. IPL technology is a wonderful as long as you have an experienced professional doing your treatments. If you have any concerns you should always contact your provider.
I've been reading that if providers do not use enough gel when treating patients with ipl, this can increase etchmark scarring. What does this gel do? Do providers disclose etchmark scarring from ipl is a risk?
The gel helps deliver the light evenly on the skin and, as well, provides a smooth glide when moving the handpiece. It assists with cooling the skin as well. Burns or "etchmarks" can occour whether you use gel or not. Yes, gel will help in preventing etchmarks but don't think that just because you have gel on, you can't get burned. It is always important to know all the risks of any procedure before having any treatment. Discuss all your concerns with your physician.
I had open heart surgery about a year ago. I've always had a few broken capillaries that have been treated with an IPL. It does do a food job after a week or so of not wanting to leave the house because of the swelling and redness. Now that I am on blood thinners it seems like my face is starting to look like a street map of Phoenix with tiny little veins. Can an IPL treat pin point width veins and is there a way to do it without the swelling and redness?
An IPL can be used for this, but the pulsed dye laser would be more effective. Also, you might consider electrodessication at a low power setting. This modality is also effective and significantly less expensive.
