When Will Evolence Breeze Be Available in the USA for Lip Enhancement?

I've read alot about it being used in the UK and women loving it. It would be nice for a lip filler to last 12 months. Do you know if will be a smoother product than Juvederm Ultra Plus? Mine always seems to be a little lumpy.

A: Evolence Breeze Delayed

Johnson and Johnson has stopped the marketing and manufacturing of Evolence. Until the product is purchased by another company, it is doubtful the FDA will approve Evolence Breeze in the foreseeable future.

Evolence itself was not intended for lip injection. I personally, am not sure whether Evolence will ever be approved for this use. The Collagen Corporation was reprimanded by the FDA for encouragement of collagen injections into the lips. Certainly, it might be used off label.

Since Juvederm does such a great job for lip enhancement, I am not sure why you would want Evolence Breeze anyway. They both have a similar duration and now with the addition of Xylcoaine in Juvederm XC, Juvederm injections should be less painful, similar to Zyderm and Cosmoderm.

Evolence - Does It Require a Skin Test?

Do I have to get a skin test before I try Evolence? I'll be in Canada next week and want to see what it's like.

A: No

One of the advantages of Evolence compared to the grandaddy of all fillers, Zyderm, is that skin tests are not mandated. This is because, as Dr. Weiner, has noted, the allergenic, non-human part of the molecule has been eliminated.

Evolence, is derived from pig (porcine) collagen. Ironic isn't it, that it was developed by Israeli scientists.

Last week Johnson and Johnson decided to cease distributing this product. This was a financial decision, part of a large realignement of the company. They evidently faced stiff competition from the earlier to market hyaluronic acid fillers. I would look for another company to purchase this product as I think it is quite beneficial.

Evolence produces less bruising than the hyaluronic acid fillers and in my opinion, gives a more natural look. After all, the support structure of the dermis is due to collagen.

Is Evolence Recommended for Filling Under Eye Hollows?

I heard that Evolence lasts longer, but it can cause lumps that can not be dissolved like HA fillers can. If this filler is not recommended, what would be a good filler to use to fill under eye hollows?

A: Wait for Evolence Breeze and then Maybe

Evolence is a porcine derived collagen filler which, if done properly, can give a somewhat more natural appearance than the hyaluronic acid fillers. After all your skin derives its youthfulness from collagen. It is the breakdown of collagen which ages skin, so it seems logical that adding collagen to the dermis should assist patients in maintaining a more youthful look.

However, the under eye area is definitely not a good place for Evolence. It is meant for deeper, thicker areas of the face. Not the thin skinned, somewhat transparent sub-orbit. Perhaps, when Evolence Breeze comes out, this might be a possibility. This product is designed for the upper dermis, and more superficial portions of the skin.

Even then, it might not be the best choice. There is no "eraser" such as hyaluronidase for collagen. Plus, Evolence may last up to a year, so, unlike a boo-boo with Botox, you would be stuck with looking ( and having people look at) unsightly bumps for a much longer period of time.

There are better choices for this area. Restylane for instance. As Dr. Weimer notes real self is replete with patients complaining of bad results even when Restylane or Juvederm are placed in the under eye area. Imagine, what would happen if an inappropriate filler was injected

Hope this helps.
