Is It True That There is a Limit on How Much Fat Can Be Extracted During Fat Grafting?

I recently had fat grafting in my chin and cheeks. The nurse has explained that due to the limitation on how much fat can be extracted at once, there is not enough leftover frozen fat for my secondary fat injection. Is this extraction limitation true? Thanks a lot!

A: leftover fat after grafting

Of coarse there is a limit to how much fat can be harvested.  Really thin people have much less fat than heavier people. That said, for fat grafting to the face, I can not see how they could possibly reach a "limit" on harvesting.

I do not think freezing fat and using it later is a good idea.  One of the vexing problems with fat grafting is the take rate of the grafted fat. Up to 50% of grafted fat can die after the procedure.  Usually my results are much better than this.  Frozen fat is injured and will not survive to the same extent. I do not freeze fat and use it later for this reason.

Is It a Good Idea to Go to Plastic Surgeons Whom Are Still in Residency?

I hear results are just as good. I livw in new orleans and the surgery would be performed at the Lsu medical center...si i hear. I have a consult April 6, 2012 as there are very expierenced PS that perform with the resident student. I am looking to have explant sugery. I think that it may be cheaper to go this route.

A: residents clinic in plastic surgery

There is something to the adage "you get what you pay for".  In general I would have a hard time recommending a resident clinic. You do not know how much of the time the supervising surgeon will be present and involved.  You might get supervision from a distance.

That said, with an explant (removal of breast implant), I think you should be fine with a residents clinic.  This is a pretty easy case that involves minimal tissue manipulation.   Unless you are also getting a mastopexy (lift), I could not strongly recommend paying more.

Good Luck

Ive Recently Heard About Breast Reduction Pills,is the Reaaly Such a Thing That Works?

hello doctors, ive recently and very recentl read somewhere about breast reduction pills that do the job without the need for surgery and as someone looking into having a surgery done im wondering if there is such a thing a breast reduction pills that work?

A: breast reduction pills

As I think you probably know, there are no breast reduction pills that will work.  Weight loss can help decrease breast size, but often surgery is the only good option.
