I had my tummy tuck 3 days ago, and my belly button is very low, under my waist line. Will it adjust over the time? Thank you,
While a mini procedure seems like a great idea, there are pitfalls. In a mini tummy tuck, the umbilicus is left in its native place, but skin below is removed. This will nearly always pull the umbilicus down. If the base of the umbilicus is short, the downward pull will be minimal. However, if the base of the umbilicus is longer, the umbilicus will become more substantially pulled downward.
This may improve a little bit with time as the lower abdominal skin stretches out a bit, but your belly button will not likely return to its earlier position. This is something you should talk about with your surgeon.
If you really don't like the new position of the umbilicus, conversion to a full tummy tuck will solve the problem.
I Do Not Want the Long Scar from a Tummy Tuck. 5'2", 118 lbs, no stretch marks, skin in relatively good condidtion with only small amount of loose skin. My stomach pooches out and has significant fatty deposits. I have had 3 kids. According to my doctor, I have some muscle separation, though not severe. I have been told that I may not have enough skin and thus would also need a short vertical scar in addition to the horizontal scar. I am not dissatisfied enough with my body to accept a hip to hip scar.
It is hard to assess you skin quality with the photos, but I would suggest that the photos look like you have no stretch marks and that you are fairly young. The fat can be addressed with Liposuction alone, but if you do have a significant separation in the muscles, you may need a procedure to tighten the muscles. i.e. tummy tuck, or mini tummy tuck. I too would be concerned that you do not have enough skin for a full tummy tuck, and would be hesitant to recommend that.
I think you would get a great result from a mini tummy tuck and liposuction of the flanks.
That said, if you are planning more kids in the next few years, you may want to wait. You would likely lose most of the benefit if you get pregnant again.
