Dr. T. Randall Blanchard, MD, FACS is a double-board-certified plastic surgeon in private practice at the Plastic Surgery Center of Hampton Roads, where he has been treating patients with compassion and skill for over two decades. Though he performs a variety
I'm a huge believer in more than one consultation when choosing a plastic surgeon. I had a breast augmentation in 2015 and had three consultations before deciding who my surgeon would be. Fast forward to 2023, I started looking for a surgeon for a tummy tuck, muscle repair, and lipo of the flanks. I surveyed local moms who have gone through the procedure and got Dr. Blanchard's name multiple times along with another surgeon, so I scheduled consultations with both. Let's just say I never made it to the other consultation... Dr. Blanchard is just the warmest, most empathetic PS I've ever met. He was thorough during my consultation, explaining his "way" of performing this procedure and even expressed it's his favorite procedure to do. The nurses, Patient Care Coordinator (Holly), and just the entire staff was fantastic... I even requested to see Dr. Blanchard again a week later because I came up with more questions and he obliged, and gave me as much time as I needed. I am not 9 days post op and I am convinced he's a wizard. Having my muscle repaired was first and foremost, when deciding to go through this procedure. The aesthetic result is simply a bonus, and man, he nailed it! My incision is perfect, and low, low, which he promised. My waist is smaller than it's ever been and I am still very swollen, so I cannot wait to see my final results. I trust Dr. Blanchard and the staff at PSCHR wholeheartedly. I highly recommend the practice and think Dr. Blanchard should definitely be on your list of surgeons to interview.
The staff are all wonderful and I felt Blanchard executed the vision I had for my breast! All I can say is I will definitely be going back in the future for any other procedures needed.
Having my surgery with Dr. Blanchard was an amazing experience from start to finish. I am currently 10 weeks post op and am looking amazing. He is so professional and easy to talk to. He addressed every concern I had and the results are better than I imagined. During my consultation I could tell that he actually loves performing tummy tucks. And it SHOWS in his work.
Had the best experience with Dr. Blanchard. Great bed side manner. Super friendly as well as staff. Very experienced and want to best outcome for his patients. I can always reach someone for any questions I might have. Thanks you so much!!!
So I have my tummy tuck surgery scheduled for this Friday I’m very excited but nervous also I’m looking forward to the results I know it’s going to take a long time for the swelling to go away as I’ve been reading reviews for a long time now but I can’t wait! One thing I am nervous about I never read on the reviews anyone speaking about the injections that I will have to have after the surgery to reduce my chances of getting a blood clot. I’m going to try to remember to post pictures along my journey so the first picture is just gonna be my before picture and after the surgery I will do follow up pictures. Updated on 26 Jun 2021: Good morning. This will be my 1st full post op day, I had the tummy tuck with a revision t my left breast from my reduction from 2017. Dr. Blanchard had told me do to how big my breast were back then it was hard to get them symmetrical and could/would get them /it revises, and he’d did. yesterday after surgery I felt like a bus hit and dragged me, the pain meds didn’t really seem to help much, I did get up and walk around a few time, I’m taking pain meds every 4 hours as instructed. I was nauseous for a while. I will begin my shots today also. Didn’t sleep much last night, very difficult to sleep on my back. I do have a question for my type team, I know I have to stay slouched over when I walk, but do I need to be slouched over a bit when I’m sleeping also? I also didn’t eat anything but a few crackers, I did drink tons of fluids. I hate to sound negative but just giving my experience feed back. A few good notes I love the nurses and Dr. Blanchard they were great. My 1st nurse had here tummy tuck 7 weeks ago by Dr. Blanchard, she showed me and she looks wonderful. I hope to take pictures today and post. Thanks for all the encouragement, I need it!!!!! Any suggestions on what I should eat today? Updated on 26 Jun 2021: I apologize if this is duplicated, I didn’t seem my 1st entry. Yesterday I had my tummy tuck and left breast reduction revision ( when I had the procedure done in 2017, Dr. Blanchard said since my breast were so large getting them even would be hard, they weren’t that off). Yesterday I felt like I was run over by a bus, with some nausea and lots of pain. The pain meds didn’t seem to work much even though I took them every 4 hours as instructed. I did drink tons of fluids and only ate a few crackers. Any suggestions as to what I should eat today? Today still in a lot of pain, very little sleep it was hard sleeping on my back crouching over. I know I’m supposed to walk crouching over but is it necessary for me to crouch over to sleep too? I have not had a shot yet but will as soon as I finish this, not looking forward to that, I was told it will burn….I did walk around every few hours, that was difficult and very taxing, but will continue. I went to the bathroom a few time but no BM so I wil continue with the stool softener and add the milk of magnesia today. Please send me any suggestions on how to make this a little better .. I will try and post progressive pic later today. I was told I could shower after 24 hours but nervous. Gotta go time for meds and 1st shot …. Updated on 28 Jun 2021: I am feeling much better today, I was able to takeoff the bandages and take a shower. I love the results, if this is how it looks at three days I can’t wait to continue to watch it get better and better. I’m still numb, I don’t really have an appetite, and no BM yet, but I’m taking everything they say to encourage a BM. I’ve been staying hydrated as well and. The nurse called to check up me today also. Updated on 1 Jul 2021: So today I am six days preop. I had my follow up doctors appointment the doctor says I am healing great he removed my drain and gave me the instructions on wearing my shaper along with my compression garment he also said in a few weeks my I may want to try the marble trick on my belly button. have any of you heard of the marble trick? he said you put a marble in your belly button and it helps your bellybutton heal so that it looks really cute. Also he gave me some strips to put one to my incisions to help them heal do any of you guys have a good recommendation for the silicon strips that I should order that work well for you in our good price? I wil post pictures tomorrow. Updated on 12 Jul 2021: I am feeling better and stronger every day. I still have little sensations along the incisions with swelling. I’m getting more energy and moving better. My belly button is looking better every day and I am doing the “marble thing “ to my belly button. Thank you for the posting about massages to the incisions to help with healing. I’ll continue to post pictures of my progress.
It’s been almost 2 years since my abdominal surgery (tummy tuck) done by Dr Blanchard and I couldn’t be more pleased. Weight loss has been stable and the smaller clothes still fit. I’m a 58 year old woman and it was tough recovery for a couple weeks — still happy and would do it again.

The next Two years ago i got up to 185 and lost 40lbs in 1.5 months. My procedure is scheduled for May 29. Updated on 26 May 2020: I workout almost everyday usually running or biking between 1- 8miles after I workout at home. I am more productive since staying at home due to covid-19. I workout and stretch longer as a whole to relieve stressors and it's easily become lifestyle for me. Updated on 27 May 2020: I like this girls boob to waist ratio. To complete my mommy makeover my goal is to have a breast augmentation by my 40th birthday in 2 years. While I am still recovering from my TT from Jan 24,2020 it's exciting to think about augmentation. I am currently a perky B but wish for much more volume. We only live once so I'm going for the DDD! I am a mom of 2 and I'm so happy to have finally gotten the abdominoplasty that I truly needed. I had diastases recti 3-4 finger separation. A few things that I purchased to aid in my recovery are Myovite multivitamin, Juven & Mend cosmetic. I'm also taking additional probiotics. I ordered meals from Epicured so I can eat healthy and I also add spinach to my Mend and blend it up for extra nutrients. I also have been taking arnicare tablets to help with bruising and inflammation. Updated on 27 Jan 2020: Yesterday was the most painful day. I had an awful headache and just had a hard Time getting up. I still had not had a bowel movement. My husband went and bought Colace and milk of magnesia to go along the the miralax and it worked great. I felt so much better. I slept better last night and woke up today feeling refreshed. I am able to get up on my own. I looked at my scar and it looks pretty narly. The end of the right stitch might need a revision but I'm nit for sure , time will tell. Updated on 28 Jan 2020: I am so happy that the pain is not as bad as I anticipated. I had a BBL 3 years ago and that hurt worse than this. I honestly think the difference is my diet and my supplements. I am still taking norco but the TT pain really is moderate not severe. I do have a lot of lower back pain from being hunched over. I am getting more of a appetite and drink tons of water. I’ve taken my binder off a few times to shower and clean incision and I noticed I dint have the hourglass shape which I’m disappointed, maybe it’s just the swelling ? I go to the PS tmrw for follow up and will discuss that with him. I am aware that sometimes revisions need to be made. Updated on 28 Jan 2020: Updated on 28 Jan 2020: Updated on 28 Jan 2020: While I LOVE the arnica pills and cream due to their effectiveness, the tea is AWFUL, tastes like dirt. Save your money on the teas. But I highly recommend the pills and creams/gels. Updated on 29 Jan 2020: The dr says everything looks great and he had the nurse remove the drain. I forgot to ask a lot of questions so I’ll write them down for my next appointment in another week. I’m very tired today and he said to expect to feel great for a few days then you’ll feel like you were hit by a bus. Updated on 29 Jan 2020: I am exhausted today, the dr appointment but wiped me out. My PS was so sweet and was happy with my results. I imagined a more hourglass shape but I think I’m being too critical. I kept reading about people feeling emotional after plastic surgery and I haven’t felt they until last night, I feel like I went to cry , did I make the right decision to do this? So I look like Frankenstein with this large scar? All normal feelings I suppose, I will focus on eating healthier since I ate a lot of sugar the last 2 days so that is affecting me as well. Updated on 29 Jan 2020: Updated on 29 Jan 2020: Updated on 30 Jan 2020: Updated on 31 Jan 2020: I had Lipo done 3 years ago from a different dr and it was the worst experience even though he is a highly reputable dr. I was left with hard masses on my stomach, severe scar tissue that Was painful and unsightly. I can’t wait for a few months to go by so I can see my true results from my tummy tuck. Updated on 1 Feb 2020: Updated on 3 Feb 2020: No muffin top wooohooo!! Took the jeans off right away and put on sweatpants lol. I’m standing taller , well a little bit :) Updated on 10 Feb 2020: Some swelling but feeling overall better unless I do too much activity then I swell up. Started drinking almased today. I weighed myself and I was 155 my goal weight is 135 with muscle of course once I can start going to gym. Updated on 10 Feb 2020: Updated on 10 Feb 2020: Updated on 12 Feb 2020: I will work on exercise once I’m fully Recovered from my tummy tuck. When I have my breast augmentation I am going to ask for additional Lipo to obtain a more hourglass figure. Updated on 12 Feb 2020: Updated on 14 Feb 2020: How’s everyone doing? I’ve had a lot of days where I’ve felt tired but woke up today with energy! Thank goodness bc my home is a tornado!!!! I can’t stand it lol. My husband is not happy that I had the surgery so that’s not going well but I am happy and feeling confident for the first time in years. I still can’t stand up straight and my tummy feels really Tight. I’ve been going to the chiropractor and he adjusts me sitting up. I’m considering doing hyperbaric chamber to help with healing but it’s pricey. I also get acupuncture but haven’t gone in a month so I feel it’s time to make that appointment. I feel like my hourglass shape is appearing Which makes me very happy. Before surgery I was 156 I am now 153. Goal weight is 135. Updated on 14 Feb 2020: Updated on 14 Feb 2020: Updated on 14 Feb 2020: Updated on 17 Feb 2020: Updated on 17 Feb 2020: Updated on 19 Feb 2020: I’m wearing my medium maiden form compression top and I will also add my binder a little bit later today. After my chiropractic adjustment I came home and felt so good I wanted to see if I could do just a 30 min brisk walk and I did with no pain. I felt like I could do more but I did not want to overdo it. I’m hoping everyday I can add to the time and not have any negative side effects. I’m currently not working but at the 6 week mark I would like to find a job and start working again. It’s still hard for me to maintain the house, kids, after school activities by myself but I’m feeling better each day. I still have swelling and wake up night with some pain at the incision site with changing positions. All in all I’m feeling pretty good and excited with each passing week to see the final result and be ale to be more physically active. Updated on 21 Feb 2020: Before pic is august 2018 and after pic is today ! I’m feeling better and more energetic each day. I noticed 2 small areas on my incision line that have a little bit of pus so I will neosporin until gone. Overall feeling better and better, just need to build my stamina back up after being down for so long. Updated on 28 Feb 2020: Kids and I had strep this week, my youngest missed 4 days of school. So I’m pretty exhausted from lack of sleep. I’m feeling a little bit better today. I stepped on the scale and it’s obvious that I need to move more and drink more water. I’m standing up straighter but I almost feel like I need one of those posture corrector things to wear to retrain myself to stand up, shoulders back. My next appt is March 5th... I think In a week I’ll be feeling almost back to normal. I think the most frustrating thing for me is not doing everything I normally do with energy, can’t really slow down being a mom. I’ll be glad to workout again and hit the sauna!!! My tummy feels tight and a little hard and I still have lots of numbness in areas which is to be expected. Updated on 1 Mar 2020: Updated on 1 Mar 2020: Updated on 3 Mar 2020: I’ve felt amazing the last few days!!! Thank goodness :):):) Updated on 4 Mar 2020: Dr noticed some swelling on right side, he said he will see me back in 2 months. It will be 6 months before he can tell if I’ll need some touch up work but other then that things look great! Also I’m super happy that I can tuck a shirt in and no tummy bulge ! Updated on 9 Mar 2020: I love my body for allowing me the honor of carrying and delivering my babes. And I love that my kids loved my squishy tummy, they said it felt like a pillow and it was funny when I would laugh how it would jiggle and they loved it. While my kids love my tummy I did not and I struggled with plastic surgery bc I thought why can’t I see myself and love myself the way my children do. Would I be sending the wrong message? Well fast forward 6 weeks and I’m so happy I did this. Plastic surgery is not the easy way out as some people say or accuse. It is physically and mentally draining and if you have insecurities there is not amount of surgery that will fix the internal voice in your head that is work you have to do yourself BUT seeing yourself in the mirror in a way you never thought you could look again def helps!! I would do this surgery over in a heartbeat. Updated on 9 Mar 2020: Updated on 12 Mar 2020: Wa finally brave enough to massage my stomach on my own and go get a massage. Before I cringed t the thought of my tummy being touched. I’m able to stretch out more, sleep in my tummy for little bit. Overall I’m feeling pretty normal again. I still have some swelling on my upper right abdomen so hopefully the massage at home will help. Updated on 13 Mar 2020: Before surgery I hated pants/jeans shorts bc they dig into my rolls. But today I wore pants with a belt and a shirt tucked in, It’s the small Victories!!! Updated on 17 Apr 2020: I am still happy I had the surgery since I do look better than before. To be honest I feel a little bit like Frankenstein with my large scar lol I feel I will need some lipo in a year or 2 to get things exactly the way I want them. I’m working on eating healthy and drinking a gallon of water a day. I haven’t been able to be as physically active as I would like but I just need to make that happen . I swell after eating certain things ... salty , fatty foods. Overall I’m happy but I have to hold myself accountable to eat clean and exercise to maintain results.
This man is AMAZING!!! He went above and beyond. I got a panniculectomy 3 weeks ago and my waist is snatched!!! I'm healing perfectly. He is so kind and understanding. He did a great job, I couldnt be more satisfied. If I had to do it all over again I would. He definitely loves what he does, you can tell by your results. Thank you sooo much Dr.Blanchard, because of you I can feel more confident and wear my bikinis this summer!! You done a great job!! I'm all smiles!!
