Tips for Avoiding Radiesse Pain

I am thinking about getting for my marionette lines, but after reading a , I'm not sure.  She described the Radiesse injections as being so painful that I am scared to try it.  Why do injections hurt so much for some people, but not others?  How can I avoid being one of the people who has "excruciating" pain?

A: Injectable Filler Anesthesia to Avoid Pain

Injectable fillers such as Radiesse, Restylane, Juvederm, and Sculptra are good options for various cosmetic enhancements for facial aging, such as nasolabial / smile lines or lip enhancement.

Some local anesthesia is generally required, since each filler is injected via a small needle. However, cosmetic treatment should not be very painful. Most dermatologists or plastic surgeons use a combination of anesthesia techniques to minimize discomfort.

  • topical anesthesia cream on treated areas
  • nerve or dental block with injection of anesthesia into skin & tissue
  • mixing anesthesia directly with the filler
  • ice pack prior to procedure
  • oral pain medication prior to procedure

There are many other techniques which may help alleviate any pain with injections.

Can I Get Radiesse Removed?

Does anyone know how long Radiesse last under eyes?

A: Radiesse under eyes removal

Radiesse may last up to a year, or longer. Removal is very difficult, would only partial remove the material, and would require a facial incision. Surgical removal may cause more problems than leaving it alone.

Long-lasting Solution for Eye Bags, Sagging Skin, and Nasolabial Folds?

I am 42 and not happy with two things: bags under eyes (bigger on my right side) and loss of fat on my face. I maintain my body weight by controlling what I eat and exercise thus have a great body but also a "fat-free" face, and as a result, sagging skin, no cheeks, and deep nasolabial folds. I tried Radiesse filler for nasolabial folds. It lasted only for 3 weeks (due to exercise?) What would be a long-lasting solution for my eyes, sagging skin, cheeks, and nasolabial folds?

A: Help for "Fat Free" Face

Exercise and a healthy diet are essential to a long, healthy life. Unfortunately this combined with aging often results in loss of facial fat. In your case aging is also leading to weakness of the lower lid septum leading to bags.

Here's the best solution for you. First a transconjunctival lower lid blepharoplasty with fat redraping will both correct the bags and the tear troughs. Next, micro fat injection of your cheek and nasolabial folds is a permanent fix to your loss of volume. Be sure your fat injection surgeons is using the smallest cannulas, 1.2-1.4mm for injection. This will result in a better take of the fat.
