Microdermabrasion or Chemical Peel After Injectable Filler?

How long after filler injections (Restylane, Botox, etc) must you wait to perform microdermabrasion or light chemical peels?

A: I'd wait two weeks

Although many will say that you could do everything at once. I think that because your going to swell from the filler you might want to wait a week or two to allow any bruising or swelling to resolve before you proceed with microdermabrasion. Now if you're considering the Vi peel than doing any or all together would be okay as this is not as severe a peel as others. This is all very surgeon dependent.

Normal to Have Small Red Clots After Microdermabrasion?

Is it normal to have petechiae or small red clots after derma sweep microdemabrasion? I had my second treatment today and did not see these dots after my first treatment. I'm an Asian (Filipino), by the way. The aesthetician told me its normal and will fade away afterwards. Are these really normal?

A: Microdermabrasion and pinpoint bleeding

Although you can get pinpoint bleeding or as you have described small blood spots, I would be a little cautious since the more aggressive the microdermabrasion treatment is then the more likely there can be some post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or even scarring. Especially in olive toned or skin with a little more pigment, you have to worry about getting some brown spots as the skin heals.

Make sure you are going to an experienced aesthetician who is supervised by a physician. They may need to adjust the settings on the microdermabrasion or review her technique. I hope this helps.

Microdermabrasion for Reddish, Blotchy Skin on the Body?

My skin all over my body seems blotchy, reddish, and extremely discolored. I am looking for a surgery of some sort that will cure this problem and give me an even skin tone. Will Microdermabrasion do the trick?

A: Uneven, blotchy skin on the body

I agree that it is difficult to know what would be helpful without seeing pictures. I prefer to use Fraxel on the chest, back and arms to even out the skin color since microdermabrasion is not usually effective for sun damaged skin on the body.

We have had good results on the arms and hands with the Fraxel laser.
