Labiaplasty Procedure Options

Are there different kinds of labiaplasty surgery?

A: Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty usually refers to reduction of the labia minora or inner labia. Enlargement of the labia minor is usually the result of genetics although vaginal childbirth may play a role in some women. Functionally hypertrophic or enlarged labia rarely cause problems. More often women may feel self conscious or embarrassed and thus seek surgery.

The surgery is quite simple and can be done in an office setting under local anesthetic. It involves removing and contouring the labia so that they recess behind the labia majora. Swelling will last approximately a week with return to sexual activity within 2-3 weeks.
