Do certain areas of the face respond better to Dysport because of differences in the concentration of Dysport compared to Botox?
Dysport and Botox are both neuromodulators and have similar chemical structure. However, they are different medications, which require different dosages to achieve similar clinical or cosmetic results. Generally, 3 units of Dysport has the same effect on the face as 1 unit of Botox. Your plastic surgeon or dermatologist will dose each treatment accordingly.
Best of luck.
If so, what are the advantages of this? In what circumstances do you prefer Dysport to Botox?
Botox and Dysport are both neurotoxins that give the same results. Dysport is not a lighter toxin, it is a smaller molecule and has a more rapid onset than Botox by one to two days. There are some reports that Dysport is more advantageous for use on crows feet because it last longer in the area around. I have not compared Botox and Dysport in this fashion so cannot endorse this recommendation.
Recently a plastic surgeon injected 100 Dysport into my forehead and .05 of Restylane into my nasio folds, corners of mouth, and line under chin. I saw NO results with Radiesse. Very little results with Dysport, which is odd because in the past I had better results with less than 75 injected - and in the past my forehead felt heavy afterwards, but not this time. I went back to the doc and he said that I would NEVER be able to get rid of my fine lines with fillers. Is he correct? I am 36.
Hi LWSKLSX in Cleveland, OH,
Correct. Generally, fine lines and wrinkles on the surface of the skin a better treated with skin resurfacing such as laser treatment, chemical peels, tretinoin, and skin care. Dermal filler injections are better for deeper folds and wrinkles, such as the nasolabial fold. Some fillers, such as Radiesse and Sculptra, are injected deep to rebuild facial volume, rather than fill superficial wrinkles.
Botox Cosmetic and Dysport of better for the active or dynamic wrinkles. However, these neuromodulators (Botox Cosmetic and Dysport) may soften the fine wrinkles gradually over time and repeated treatments. Only after a comprehensive evaluation can a plastic surgeon, dermatologist, or specialist help determine appropriate options for you. Best of luck.
