Which one of the products has less side effects? Restylane or Botox? Are patients happier with the results for tired eyes and dark circles when they use Restylane?
Both of these products can and are used around the eyes. However, they treat totally different things. In my practice, we use Botox most commonly around the eyes and Restylane in the lower half of the face. There are exceptions including a deep tear trough that fills nicely with Restylane. In general, if you are looking for an injection that will help rejuvenate and refreshen around your eyes, go for Botox. As always, make sure your surgeon specifically discusses what you should expect and have him show you some pictures.
Does a Restalyn facelift have any side effects for a specific type of skin or condition?
Restylane is a very safe product, but there are limitations on what it can do. It really depends on what you needs are. Filling deep nasolabial folds, adding volume to the lips, filling in tear troughts and adding a few cc's to the upper cheeks can often give the appearance of a mini face lift. Restylane is very safe, but may become prohibitively expensive is you are using large volumes of product.
Why would either restylane or dysport be recommended over the other for eye spasms?
All of the FDA approved neurotoxins including Botox, Dysport and Xeomin can be used on blepharospasms. Botox has been used the longest. It is important to see a specialist who is experienced in treating this condition. Restylane is a filler and not the right product for blepharospasm treatment.
