I'm 5 weeks post op with Tummy Tuck and Liposuction. Is it normal to feel like the inside of me is raw or burning? How long will it take it before it's safe to go without the compression garment on? Some days, when I feel as if the compression garment is rubbing me raw, I check my skin and all is fine. My back is really sore from the liposuction and I can still feel where the liposuction was inserted. Also, should I massage my skin more often in a day?
These pains and sensations can be totally normal after Liposuction and Tummy Tuck. It is typically all part of the healing process. Assuming you have no other concerns and you are seeing your PS regularly for post operative follow up visits massage can help to soften the scar tissue in these areas and help expedite the recovery. I often recommend for my patients to use a hand held massage device morning and night for 5-10 minutes over the surgical areas.
I'm thinking about liposuction but I need more info. about the recovery. How much time is usually enough for liposuction recovery? Do most people see days, weeks or months of downtime after lipo?
Most of my patients are usually back to work 1 week after Liposuction. It does depend on how much Liposuction is done and how many areas are being treated but the typical time frame is one week. Keep in mind you will still be sore after one week and it is not uncommon to have additional swelling after a long day at work. If you are planning a large Liposuction with multiple areas treated and you have a strenuous job you may consider taking a little more time off.
What are the benefits of chin liposuction?
Liposuction for the chin is a great procedure and pretty straightforward. The procedure can often be done in the office under local anesthesia. Chin liposuction with help to define the jaw line, remove excess fat and even help to tighten some skin in the area. Of course, you will want to make sure you are a good candidate for the procedure and don't need a more extensive procedure.
