Will Breasts Sag if I Decide to Explant?

What if you decided to explant? Will your breasts sag?

A: Will breasts sag if implants removed?

The answer to this question varies greatly. But, in an effort to keep things simple, here it goes.

Breasts usually return to their original state before implantation except with one or more of  the following:

  • Implants in place for a long time (>1yr)
  • Large size of implants
  • Advanced age
  • Implants are sub glandular (not behind muscle)

I hope this helps you and others in similar situations. If you do decide to remove implants ( and they are behind the muscle) and you are unhappy with their shape, allow me to make a suggestion.

I have developed a procedure that allows me to lift and slightly augment breasts without the use of implants. It's called the "Ultimate Lift". When breasts are deflated because of age, wt loss,  pregnancy, etc. I use the remaining breast tissue and make an internal cone that simulates an implant. Then, I use the excess skin to make 'internal bra straps' that are then looped around the muscles on your chest to provide a long lasting lift. Added benefit-no vertical scars.

I'm 1 Month Since Anchor Lift and Augment. How Would I Look if I Explanted?

A month ago I had a lift (to fix tubular breasts/puffy nipples, w/ptosis-my breasts had looked like that since puberty) with 330(rt) 360(l) submusc. B to C cup. I lost all nipple sensation (areolae were reduced a lot). I'm considering explant due to the fake look, though I'll wait a few months. I have new stretchmarks under the nipples, inside, from the tight lift. If I explant: 1. Will the breasts maintain the lifted look?; 2. Might I regain nipple sensation due to less pressure from implants?

A: nipple numbness after lift

Hi LadyK,

Waiting a few months before removing implants is a sound decision. Once your implants 'settle', swelling has resolved, and tissue relaxes; you may be very happy with your results. As far as regaining nipple sensitivity by removing implants-NOT LIKELY. Nipple numbness is a result from the lift. In most cases nipple sensitivity returns after several months. Hopefull, yours will too. Best of luck, Dr H

Can Doc Use Genral Anesthsia Again if Used 15 Days Ago for Mini Tummy Tuck and Breast Aug?

I got breast augmentation and mini tummy tuck was under genral anesthisia for 4 hrs. can doc use general again to remove breast implants? Very scared. but i really want the implants removed.

A: Anesthesia after a procedure Yes you can have anesthesia shortly after having had another operation. It is certainly safe if performed by a board certified anesthesiologist or other well trained provider. However, mist concerning is your desire to remove your implants. If you are concerned with size then consider downsizing rather than removal, though you should allow your implants to settle and swelling to go down prior to making that decision. If you must remove them because of infection then by all means proceed.
