It may not be good to ask about a celebrity, but Patrick Dempsy had a wide nose before rhinoplasty... You may be able to see by doing a Google search. Now, his nose looks awesome and he is much better looking to the ladies I'm sure. Do you think he had an alar base reduction? Seems a celebrity male would not want scars. Also, would a surgery like what he had done (narrowing) be a full 2 week recover plus months of recovery or something quick and easy?
It's difficult to tell from a single photo since not having a profile view limits my evaluation. Patrick definitely had the tip narrowed and may have had the nasal dorsal hump smoothed down. The nasal bones themselves look as wide preop as they do postop so I don't think that he had the nasal bones narrowed. I don't think he had the tip raised since on this view it still looks like it is downward.
I been looking for a facial surgeon with an extensive experience on the field and good credentials to get a rhinoplasty. I finally found one and i thought he would be the one, but all the reviews from his actual patients say they are very unhappy with the results and regret having the surgery done by him and they even say he ruined their lives because he would not face his mistake! How can i really know this will not turn out to be a nightmare if i trust in him?
As a plastic surgeon with 30 years experience, I would like to say that every patient had a good result and was happy, but unfortunately this is not always the case. I can say that 90% of my patients had good results and were happy, but the other 10% are the ones that we are most concerned about. Those are the ones that the surgeon has to look at closely to see if it's an error in technique, a bad experience in the office, or bad choice by the surgeon in operating on the patient. Every procedure has complications and not everyone has the results they are looking for. Other patients are not ever going to be happy. Their goals may not be realistic or they may not be happy with someone in the office ,other than the physician. I've had patients have good results and they are happy, and 20 of their friends think they look great, but one friend may tell them they look terrible and all the sudden their impression of the physician and the results changes.
If some of the patients write negative reviews, but there are also many positive reviews, and you're comfortable with the physician, ask him if you could speak with some of his former patients and look at before and after photos. You might want to speak with a few surgeons in order to make a better decision
I have had various opinions and can't figure out what to do. Based on my profile, which of the following might I need? * Chin implant * Nasal spine (bone) removed (mine is large) * Nostril reduction The reason I say nostril reduction is since my nose will get pushed back, I don't want the nostrils to flare and get wide. One doctor said removing the spine would cause problems. One said remove it. One didn't know you could. Please help! I don't know what to do. Thanks!
It appears that your nose is long. This is because the septum (cartilage between the two sides of the nose) is long and possibly the cartilage that forms the tip of your nose may be long also. By shaving back the end of the septum and removing some of the overlying nasal tip cartilage, your nose will shorten. It will also raise the tip ,which looks slightly droopy. As far as the nostrils are concerned, they probably won't change shape significantly with nasal shortening. I usually make the decision to trim the alar skin, which forms the nostril during the procedure.
