What are My Breast Lift Options? (Photo)

I have 36 C/d sized breast, 5'1" 135 lbs 38 yrs old with 2 kids. I need a lift but don't want the scar. I like the perky look of my younger breasts and would like to remain the same size. what options do i have?

A: There are techniques to minimize noticeable scars

The concept behind a breast lift is to remove excess skin from the "envelope"that holds the breast tissue. This will compress the breasts so you may have a little less volume but you will have more tissue in the upper portion of your breast. From looking at your photos it would be difficult to do the procedure exclusively with incision around the areola. You will need to add either a vertical incision from the areola down to the inframmary crease or a horizontal incision in the inframmary crease. The whole idea of a breast lift is to have the nipple at the peak of the breast mound and keep the distance between the areola and the inframmary crease around 4-5 inches. In addition, most plastic surgeons use a "cookie-cutter" metal template to make the new areola approximately 4 cm in diameter. Your areola appear to be larger than that and if you don't want to make them smaller you should let the plastic surgeon know

Natural Breast Lift

I have sagging boobs and want to know what treatment is available. I don't want to do cosmetic surgery.

A: No exercises or nonsurgical maneuvers will help breasts

Many women use the" pencil rule", where they place a pencil underneath the breast and if it stays there without falling out, they are candidates for a breast lift. Because breast tissue is really an extension of your skin, working out to increase your muscle mass won't help.

Many women develop breast ptosis ,or sagging ,after having children or after losing significant weight. In addition, they may have stretch marks on their breasts which signals that the dermal layer of the skin has been significantly damaged. The skin won't tighten up on its own. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options

Sagging Breasts: How to Perk Things Up

after babies and i guess aging :( my breasts sag more than i'd like. is breast lift or plastic surgery my only option for getting them perked up again?

A: Surgery pretty much only option for perkier breasts

In my practice, I would say 50% of my cosmetic breast patients are in the same situation you are. Whether they breast-fed or not, they have lost volume and have developed sagging. Depending on the size they are now and what size they hope to be, I can recommend breast augmentation, breast lift, or a combination of the two.

Most breast augmentation/lifts are performed in one procedure, although I do have some patients that I recommend undergoing one procedure first and then waiting to see if they want or need the second procedure. Depending on how much sagging there is, a breast lift may cause you to lose half a cup or even a full cup size, so this must be kept in mind when you're thinking of how you want your breasts to ultimately look.
