Hi I am 6 weeks post-op from a full tummy tuck & want my PS to do a scar revision on me at the 6-12 month mark as my scar is very high ( he doesn't seem very willing to do it). He also did not do repair on my diastasis recti and I have a 3 finger separation. ( I have very good skin skin with no stretch marks from pregnancy) if I can convince him to do the scar revision would I be able to have my muscles tightened/ sewn together at same time? Would my skin need to be peeled back to ribcage again?
It appears from your photographs that you will need a repeat abdominoplasty. You will need flap elevation all the way up to your ribs and the diastasis recti repaired. At the same time, your skin incision can be lowered. It is good that you are not in a hurry and waiting 6 to 12 months will make it technically easier to do and allows the skin to stretch more. The key to an abdominoplasty is not sewing your muscles together but sewing the fascia that surrounds the muscles restoring them to the normal vertical course. This should have been done at the 1st operation. You are not a candidate for anything other than the repeat abdominoplasty by a board certified plastic surgeon.

I am unhappy with how my upper lip now looks and would like to know what possible treatments there are to fix or remove the scar and approximately how much it would cost. I received the cut about a month ago and the wound has since healed but the upper border is now slightly misaligned by the scar. Also, is laser treatment a possibility I should consider? What would the approximate downtown be for a corrective procedure? Thanks.
Your lip scar is more noticeable because the lines of the upper lip is disrupted. Lasers may help decrease the pigment in the scar but this will not help with the misalignment. This is relatively straight forward to do. I would recommend on surgically correcting the misalignment to get the best results. Be sure you visit with a plastic surgeon as they will be most comfortable with the layers of the lip tissues and in revising the scar.
I have keloids that were surgically removed. Within a year, they grew back even larger. If I get them removed again, will they keep growing back? What causes this?
Keloids do recur with some frequency. Surgery alone may only be successful half the time. If this is your 2nd attempt, I would strongly suggest you add compression therapy, steroid therapy and radiation therapy to the regimen. Even despite all this, it may still come back, but the likelihood diminishes considerably.
1) Compression earings: For a good year - worn all the time (except for showering)
2) Steroid injections: Once every 4-6 weeks. Would recommend 6 treatments if there is no recurrence.
3) Radiation therapy: Usually done the same or next day. Three treatment cycles is usually sufficient, but I would talk to a radiation oncologist to verify. The overall dose is considerably less than cancer treatment. And just to reassure you: Keloids are not cancerous. But they are aggressive.
Good luck.
