I went for a consultation to get a filler in my nasolabial folds. The Doctor suggested to inject Radiesse in my cheeks instead. Said that they are little flat, and filling them would take care of the nasolabial folds, (no need to inject Radiesse in them). Does this truly work?
Radiesse is a great filler to enhance the cheeks and they do soften the folds. As we age we do lose volume in the face and restoring some volume to the cheeks is a great way to rejuvenate the face. With respect to the folds, this depends on how deep they were to begin with and what you consider aesthetic. I often start in the cheeks and then use much less in the folds compared to if I just focused on the folds. Hope this helps. Good luck.
What are some things I should avoid right before a radiesse treatment that might cause unusual effects?
Radiesse is a filler, and as soon as it is injected, you will notice the effects. Just like when you blow air into a balloon - you can tell the difference immediately.
- If radiesse is injected into the cheeks, you will notice more volume in your cheeks softening of the nasolabial folds
- If it is injected into the nasolabial folds, you will notice a blunting of the folds
People occasionally get bruising after injection. This will resolve shortly. If radiesse is injected near the lip, you may experience swelling minutes to hours after the procedure. This can be uncomfortable, but it will go down in a couple of days.
Is it true that it is safer to have Radiesse injected externally rather than internally (up through the mouth into the cheeks)? I am very worried about nerve damage or worse: blindness!!! Additionally, if someone would be kind enough to recommend a surgeon in the Portland, OR area- an expert in facial fillers for cheek augmentation, I would greatly appreciate it!
Radiesse can be used to shape the cheeks and other areas of the face. There is absolutely no reason to inject the product through the mouth. Find an experienced injector in your area that has used Radiesse or other fillers to augment the face.
