Would Veneers Fix Worn Down Bicuspids? (photo)

I was wondering whether dental veneers would be able to bring back the length and point of my bicupids? I went to a dentist who wasn't very skilled and he shaved the point down way too much, my smile doesn't look half as broad now, and you can see the back part of the tooth when I smile because there's no length on the front side. - Photo included

A: Porcelain veneers to lengthen tooth

Porcelain veneers can change the shape and length of your teeth.  It would be a minimal amount of tooth removed or a no prep veneers to add length and width to your teeth.  Ask the orthodontist if they can possibly move the tooth out further to help you see more of it when you smile.  The point on your tooth may also be put back with some cosmetic recontouring.

Should I Get Veneers, Dental Bonding for My Small Teeth? (photo)

I hate my teeth soooo much, OMG you have no idea. They're so small. I'm 20 years old, and I have baby teeth. It's so embarrassing. It just lowers my self esteem. What should I get to improve my smile?

A: Options for Small Teeth

From the photos it looks as though you have a couple of options.  You could have some soft tissue laser recontouring perofrmed over the front four teeth.  This would improve the aesthetics and give your teeth a longer look.  Porcelain veneers could be placed within a week or two to improve the shape and overall appearance of your smile.  The other option would be to consider seeing an orthodontist to do braces.  After the othodontic work is completed, the laser could be used to do the laser recontouring.  Both of these would be great options and improve your smile dramatically.  Good luck.

Veneers As a Bridge?

What is the difference between the two? My once satisfctory smile was been compromised by perio issues and shifting/spreading. #8 was removed and a bridge is planned across from canine to canine excluded. I am currently wearing a temp and awaiting permanent placement of the 4 "veneers" I was billed and have paid for. Veneers can be made as a, or into a bridge? I'm confused.

A: Porcelain Bridge for Missing Front Tooth

From what you are describing, the teeth that are ready for the veneers would need to be altered to serve as the anchor teeth for the bridge.  Aesthetically, the bridge should look just as natural as the veneers would have.  I know that you mentioned that you have had periodontal problems.  I am assuming that these issues are now stable and not progressing.  You would not want to place a bridge of this size over teeth with active gum disease.  Another potentially viable option would be to consider placing a dental implant in place of the missing tooth.  Read the link to find out more about the implant process.  Good luck!
