are fillers for ppl who desire not to go under the knife at any time? does one need fillers or botox if they will nevr have a facelift? i dont want to waste my money cos i know as i age i will eventually get a facelift. also when it does come to fillers. what is a permanent solution? regardless of expense. as i want everything done at a young age such as implants, rhinoplasty etc etc and just freshen up every ten yrs or so with a faccelift. i already look after my skin. thanks.
This is a great question! I believe that fillers, neurotoxins (i.e. Botox, Dysport, etc), and surgical lifts are complementary procedures. In most cases, one type of treatment does not replace the need (or benefit) of the other treatments. For example, if the issue is heavy jowling or excess/loose neck skin, the best solution is going to be a procedure that can lift the sagging skin and the underlying layers. Botox or fillers are not the solution here. Similarly, if the issue is wrinkle lines between the brows or crows feet, Botox will likely be of benefit--more so than a face lift. Fillers can help restore volume to your face which can reverse the hollowing effect of aging.
As you can see these are different types of problems that each have different solutions. In my practice, I find that using these different options to complement one another has provided my patients with effective and natural -looking results.
Hope this helps!

A few years ago I lost 90 pounds, I'm now at a healthy weight but have noticed that from the beginning of my weight loss my face started looking 'flabby'. When I pull my cheeks up from the sides of my face with my fingers, I see a perfect set of cheekbones and an ideal face shape. I don't want a full blown facelift. I'd prefer a non-surgical face lift (eg. thread lift).I have thick skin with no wrinkles and enough volume/fatty tissue. Please advice me on my options.
After massive weight loss, you may develop significant laxity of tissues in many body areas including the face. Age alone doesn't preclude you from a non-surgical face lift. Restoring some volume in strategic areas using fillers may have a profound effect of reducing the laxity in your face. You can also consider treatments such as Ultherapy which may help you reduce the laxity in the facial tissues. Good luck.

This is a great question. Why do people consider fillers instead of an actual facelift. If you were solely basing this on outcomes, then a surgical procedure may provide you with stronger outcomes depending on your starting point. The downside of surgery is the recovery process. Fillers provide an attractive alternative since there is minimal downtime, the results are immediate, and there is a high satisfaction rate. Couple this with other non-invasive tools like neurotoxins (Xeomin, Botox, or Dysport), Ultherapy for facial tissue tightening, or some form of skin resurfacing, then you can really obtain impressive results using non-invasive choices.
If longevity of results is one of your main determinants, then surgery may provide you with a better option. To really determine options that are suitable for you, you may want to visit a board certified plastic surgeon.
