I lost 70 pounds thru bariatric surgery and am scheduled for lbl in 2 weeks am i too old or should i just live with excess tissue.
Well congratulations on your accomplishment. Your age is less inportant than your health status. Hopefully the weight loss helped improved your health, but any residual issues should be carefully addressed.
Since your surgery is in two weeks, I am sure your surgeon has peformed the necessary tests and lab studies you may need. Best wishes, Dr. L.
For someone who has lost a lot of weight and has sagging skin, what are the typical areas that are lifted during a body lift?
Great question. I've seen the terms body lift, lower body lift, belt lipectomy, circumferential body lift... Usually, for my patients who have lost a significant amount of weight, my first line of attack is a circumferential body lift = belt lipectomy = lower body lift. This procedure is 3 procedures all in one:
1. tummy tuck
2. waist/lateral thigh lift
3. buttock lift +/- buttock augmentation
This procedure requires 4.5-6.5 hrs of surgery and requires an overnight stay in my practice.

Are there certain areas of the body that are better to target and others to avoid when beginning an exercise routine again after a body lift?
I advise my body lift patients to avoid any heavy lifting or strenuous activity for 5-6 weeks after surgery. So no exercising for this time period. You need to give time for your incisions and surgical sites to heal. Hope this helps. Dr. Basu
