Will I feel pressure, tingling, pulling or warmth on my eyelids during the procedure? Are most Asian eyelid surgeries done while the patients are awake?
Asian eyelid surgery is usually done under local anesthesia, that is where the skin is anesthesized with injections of numbing medicine. It can also be done with IV sedation if the patient is particularly nervous and wants some sedation. There is very little pain involved. The stinging from the local anesthestic itself is usually the most comfortable part of the surgery. There may be some pressure or a slight discomfort if excess fat is removed and while sutures to create the supratarsal crease are being put in. You will not feel the skin sutures at all. The whole procedure usually takes no more than 30 minutes. You can go home with someone driving you right away. Sutures are usually removed within 3-5 days.
I've recently undergo Asian double eyelid surgery and I'm 3 weeks post op. However to my surprise I have very little swelling and bruising and It seems like my crease is lowering on it's own and I know it's normal But what I'm afraid is it will continue lowering and make my crease even lower. Are there ways to increase the height of my fold and What's the downtime for it? I like my crease height now but I'm just afraid It will keep lowering! And my right crease is slightly higher than my left.
There is usually some swelling immediately after surgery on your upper eyelids which would make them look more swollen and wider than they will eventually look. If they appear too low to you immediately following surgery, they will tend to look lower and the crease will be closer to the eyelid margin as the swelling goes down. It is possible after complete healing to revise your eyelids so that the crease will be higher and stay higher.
I want revision on my nose and (asian) eyelids. Since they are revisions, I know I need to go to someone who is extremely skilled, but should I look for someone who is expert at both? Or is it okay to look for two separate doctors and get two separate procedures? If I were to get two separate surgeries what would the wait time be before I get my next surgery? I wanted to get it redone next summer... is that possible? or would I have to wait longer?
You can have surgery on your eyelids and nose at the same time or you can have them done separately. It depends on whether you find a plastic surgeon that you are comfortable doing both or not. Next summer should be a good time to do both.
