Hair Loss After Brow and Face and Neck Lift

Can you tell me how common it is to have some hair loss particularly on the sides of the head with a strip of thinning hair just past the incision line from a lateral brow lift, face lift and neck lift. I also have about a little larger than a nickel size bald spot now further down that line from the incision. I have this on both sides but really my left side is worse than my right side. Thanks Vicki

A: Hair loss after face and brow lifts

Most hair loss after procedures that involve incisions within the hair are temporary. Sometimes the hair follicles go into a phase called telogen, where the hair falls out and the hair bulb or follicle goes into a non-regrowth period for up to four months. There can however be permanent hair loss if the incisions made did not parallel the follicles and they were damaged or if too much tension was placed on the closure of the incision. Other hair loss can occur if there was improper placement of incisions, causing such problems as loss of the hair tuft in front of the ears. If the hair fails to regrow, micro-follicular hair grafting can successfully be done, but I'd wait about 5 months to allow the follicle to regrow on their own first.

Risk of Hair Loss After Browlift

i would like to have a browlift. i am worry about the loss of hair. My hair is very thin. In addition. I have been searching information and my understanding about endoscopic browlift is that it will last only a few years versus the open brown lift that will be last for more that 10 years. I am 46, I went to see a doctor and he told me I should have botox instead of the surgery. I don't think this will be an option for me because of the price and the time I will be spending on botox brownlift. Thanks for your answers,

A: Hair loss is possible

Unfortunately, any technique including the endoscopic approach may lead to some hair loss especially in the incision line.  Good luck with surgery.
