I am 25 and I have bags under my lower lid and i hate them! I have seen few surgeons in London some said Blepharoplasty or Filler in the Tear Trough? I am really confused what I should do! This is genetic and my mum and dad have them as well also few other member of the family has them too! Can you please suggest me what is the best option for me! thanks
To make this choice of necessity would be a careful clinical exam to determine what the problem is: it sounds like you likely have a familial excess fat which would respond well to a lower lid blepharoplasty ( I like to perform these through a "subconjunctival" approach i.e. on the inside of the lower lid) this would alleviate a scar and the excess fat could either be removed or repositioned or both. Fillers have their place but are less long lasting that the surgery (when the surgery is appropriate) and one has to be very careful with the placement of the filler in the tear trough area- fortunately the fact that fillers are temporary also is helpful in the event of problems with the filler placement. I would obtain several consultations from plastic or oculoplastic surgeons before making your decision.
I am a 37 year old male. I recently had an eye infection and the doctor pulled my eye lid down for perhaps a good 6-8 seconds to check the infection. Could this cause my lower eyelid skin to sag or stretch? I'm worried. I know the skin there is very delicate.
The circumstances you describe should not lead to any permanent damage to your lower eyelid skin. It is true that the lower eyelid skin is very delicate, and as we age the eyelid can develop some laxity that could be aggravated be constantly pulling and dragging on the lower eyelid skin. Other factors such as lower eyelid surgery, sun damage, trauma, etc. could also contribute to situations causing lower eyelid laxity, also commonly called "ectropion"; if you have any concerns, you can check with a plastic surgeon or eye professional
Hi! I am 20 years old and caucasian. I have really small eyes and would like to get bigger eyes. My eyes are almond shaped, they look like normal eyes but they're small. I've heard that a browlift could help but I don't think anyone would preform a browlift on me since i'm only 20. Is there any surgery that can make my eyes considerably bigger?
Hello Sarah:
Without photos it is difficult to make specific recommendations, however I would recommend obtaining a consultation with a plastic or oculoplastic surgeon, and consider conservative options first, such as determining whether your upper eyelids might be ptotic ( or sagging) which can be corrected, or botox or dysport might be used to "shape" the area around the eyes-"opening up the area. Your eyes by your perception might appear "small" but perhaps you could also enhance their appearance with consultation with an aesthetician or cosmetic rep who might look at your entire face and suggest some ways to accentuate your eyes.
