Looking straight on, the tops of my ears end below my eyes & the lobes end at about where the creases of my mouth are. I know there are corrective surgeries for low set ears, but after researching, i don't think i have that. Also my ears have pretty normal folds and are actually about average size so I don't think it is a problem with them being too small. This is a problem for me because the distance from the top of my ears to my forehead line is great so it looks like I have a big forehead.
Minor shifts of ear locations can be done , but unfortunately such movements are limited to a centimeter or less due to the fact that they must remain centered over the ear canal. Obviously the ear canal can not be moved. If you only need a minor shifting then I would recommend getting a consult from a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.
can ears be pulled farther away from face through surgery? will ear pinning still allow me to tuck my hair behind my ears?
Hello Sarahbush
In reply to your question, it should be possible to tuck your hair behind your ear after an otoplasty or "ear pinning" surgery. This surgery is usually performed to bring the ears "back" toward the head rather than away from it; I have never had anyone request the opposite. Seek consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss all of these options: to be avoided is the "plastered ear" look where the ear is set back too close to the head. In some instances, an otoplasty can also address deformities within the ear structure such as the intricate contours and correct these if appropriate.
My ears are pushed back to an extent that a person facing me can hardly see them, unless of course I sit at an angle. My question is what is the procedure for jacking to make it stick out a little? Second part of my question is can ears be lifted up, like literally up away from the shoulders/neck, because I feel the ears are positioned low? Any thought will be highly appreciated.
Otoplasty is a procedure that usually takes "prominent ears" (sticking out) and repositions them closer to the scalp; this may also include recreating some of the delicate cartilage structures located on the surface of the ear. Without pictures it is difficult to be specific; has there been previous surgery? With the use of cartilage grafts, the ear could be projected further away from the scalp; as for actually moving the ears "up", this would be difficult because of the ear canal, and not a good idea. I would see an experienced plastic surgeon and review your options
