Hi! I'm 5'3", 135 lbs (lots of muscle) with 34DDs, and I want a reduction. I have trouble with my breasts (back/shoulder pain), but especially while running. Breathing is very difficult since I already have asthma, and the sports bras I have to wear + back tightness makes things awful. I'm wondering if these criteria are 'enough' to get approved, or if anyone knew the HMO Illinois systems particular regulations? What size would an insurance-approved reduction bring me down to? Thanks!
In order to approve a breast reduction, insurances will look at medical records supporting symptoms of back pain, neck pain, shoulder grroving, shoulder pain, and recurrent skin rashes. It is very importatn to have these symptoms well documented by your primary care physician who should then refer you to a board certified plastic surgeon who is a provider for your insurance. The plastic surgeon will then submit the documentation, photos, measurements, and a letter of medical necessity. Ususally, at least 500 grams of breast tissue have to be removed from each breast for approval.
I am a 34G and have really bad knots in my shoulder and neck. I wanted to know if I got a breast reduction, would it help tp relax my shoulders? I have done massages and elect. therapy and no one can get the knots out. They even tell me how tense my neck is and refer me out to someone else. I am going for a consultation today to a PS, so I hope they can give me some good news. I also want my insurance to cover it for me too.
A bra size 34G is a considerable breast size which can but added strain to your neck and back. It also causes shoulder grooving from the bra straps as well as shoulder pain. There are often skin rashes underneath the breasts which sometimes require medication to control. All of these symptoms can be improved after a breast reduction.
does a breast reduction or lift increse a chance for breast cancer? there is no family history of cancer so far and i am in general healthy.
Breast reduction surgery does not increase the risk of breast cancer or breast cysts. It may actually decrease it, although there are no studies to confirm this. From el Paso.
