I'm 27, with 2 children, 5'3" 125lb. I have some loose skin on my lower abdomen, not noticeable when standing though when I bend over it's an issue - gets like old people wrinkly. I would LOVE to have this fixed though I'm not sure if I'm happy with the trade off of having a scar instead as with a tummy-tuck?? Would lipo alone be able to fix this enough to the point I'm not embarrassed to bend over at the beach?
Photographs are always difficult to interpret. When you are examined the extent of excess skin you have and its quality (elasticity) can be assessed. One can also determine how much fat you have and whether you have any weakness (diastasis) of your abdominal wall. Based on your description and pictures, it does not appear that you have too much excessive skin but perhaps some in the lower abdomen. I don't believe any device can predictably reverse or improve loose skin. The operation that is best for you would have to be determined in person during your consultation by a board certified plastic surgeon
Can Smart lipo be used on the neck area? Since it is a small area do you still recommend removing the contents with suction?
Smart Lipo can be used in the neck but should it? As of yet, there are no medical studies looking at smart lipo versus conventional liposuction in neck rejuvenation. Given the added cost of smart lipo, I opt for traditional liposuction in appropriate patients.
Does anyone know who does Smart Lipo in the Portland, Clackamas, Hillsboro, Beaverton, Grasham areas in Oregon, or Vancouver in Washington?
Dear Jessica,
After looking at your picture, I can comfortably say you are a good candidate for a tummy tuck, and NOT a good candidate for liposuction (any of the forms). I think it is wonderful that patients are proactive and try to learn what is best for them, but even a few years of research are not enough to learn everything that a plastic surgeon knows. You research has lead you to believe that SmartLipo will help your stomach by causing tightening - it will result in some tightening below the surface, but NOT to the extent necessary to make a visible difference. The device companies push these points for marketing reasons. You really should visit a board certified plastic surgeon and discuss your goals with them (don't go in requesting a specific procedure, rather show them the region that you want to change). Listen to their advice and the reasons behind what they suggest. Don't fall for a marketing ploy - you will be disappointed with the results of laser lipolysis.
