A: Mesotherapy - Modern Snake Oil

Mesotherapy is a term applied to the process of injecting something under the skin with the hope to "dissolve away" fat. It is not FDA approved, and has not been proven to work. The "stuff" that is being injected is a cocktail of other agents that are approved for use on humans (hopefully!) but not specifically for Mesotherapy. There are no standard formulations, so even if you were to try and purchase a Mesotherapy treatment, you would have no way to know how much to pay! My advice is to stay away from this stuff. If you want to be experimented on, do it in a controlled clinical trial that has gone through an IRB - at least there you will be monitored!

A: Mesotherapy may cost you more than money can fix

I have seen the results of mesotherapy, and it wasn't pretty! The results-divots, high points, unaesthetic results, that required surgery to improve but not fix.

This procedure is too unpredictible for me to recommend. Don't do this. Really, don't do it. On second thouight, don't do it.

	“My Stomach Was Bigger After Mesotherapy” I had five treatments for upper and lower abdomen. Not only was it extremely painful ( like a thousand bees stung me ) but I saw no results. After all the swelling wore off my stomach was bigger than before the treatment.I did not lose an inch, but I did loose a great deal of money. Not worth it! more
	“It Doesn't Work and Very Painful” I tried 6 treatments of mesotherapy along with 4 treatments of Triactive about 2 years ago. The pain was awful even with the numbing cream. The worst part was about 4 hours later. You get really bad bruising and swelling to where you can't even sit. That might be worth it if it did it's job but it didn't. 	“Worst Thing I Have Ever Done !!!!” The shots were more painful than I had anticipated. Went home that night iced my legs and the swelling began. It was so painful and hard to move my legs. Then in the morning open lesions began forming at the injection sites. Called the doctor, they said to give it time, but I stopped by the office anyways. She immediately put me on an anitbiotic. I really didn't see a big change in the neck, though my friends told me my skin looked great...but then they said it always does! I probably wouldn't spend the money again. more
