How do I make sure that a plastic surgeon/dermatologist is highly trained in placing juvederm in the tear trough area ? In the past, I have gone to board certified dermatologist and she was also a trainer for fillers. However, I had a very very bad experience. Websites usually have few testimonials. Nobody likes to discuss that they had a filler placed under their eyes. A person could be easily fooled. For future, how do I make sure that I won't have a negative experience ? Thank you
The tear trough area is very un forgiving, and must be handled with a very conservative approach and on the right anatomy. I also refer to this area as being "low yield" since the results are subtle and the risk of bruising and puffiness is higher. I only pick "slam dunk" patients for this procedure and vast experience is required since it is very easy to create lumps and discoloration. The problem with this area is that many complain about the shadow of the tear trough, yet choices are very limited. You have worthless creams and excessive surgery with not much in the middle.
I wish I could be more helpful in this setting. I will say technique is everything. I would go on a word of mouth reccomendation only from patients who have had this done with the derm in question.

What is the difference between Juvederm and Botox? Are the ingredients for Juvederm safer than Botox?
I would say that your chances of having an allergic reaction to juvederm are slim to none.
Recent studies have show no reported allergies to this product, and I have not see a true allergy to this product.

I have a lump in my top lip from juvederm I had injected ten months ago. The rest of the filler dissolved after two weeks. My practitioner assures me the lump is undissolved filler not a granuloma. She says that if I massage it it will probably disappear and that I should wait another 4 months before trying hyaluronidase, which can have its own side effects such as dissolving the natural HA in the lip. I do not trust this practitioner and all I achieve from massage is that I make my lip sore.
Your injector should be able to use a tiny needle to puncture and remove the material in the office.
It takes a few seconds and solves the problem immediately.
Good luck
