I'm 30 yrs old and I start experiencing a first loss of skin elasticity, 'crepey' skin around my eyes when smiling and deepening nasolabial folds. Also, I have slightly enlarged pores around my nose. Would it be too early to have a re:pair treatment /would the risks outweigh the benefits at this (st)age? I prefer the idea of Fraxel repair as opposed to restore as regaining skin tightness is my priority. Should a filler treatment of nasolabial folds be done before or after a fraxel treatment?
Both the Fraxel Re:Pair (CO2) and Re:Store (Erbium Glass) lasers target water in the skin. Most facial fillers such as Radiesse, Juvederm, Restylane, etc will contain a large amount of water in the filler. For this reason, it is advisable to sequence the treatment in the following order: the laser should be done first and the filler second. Once the laser has been done, there would not be a risk that the laser could harm the filler.
Hello I have been reading on the internet about Fraxel. And am wondering, what is the difference between Dual Fraxel and Fraxel Repair, or are they the same? Also, what is the "down time" for each? Thanks!
The Fraxel Restore has Dual technology that allows us to utilize two wavelengths of laser light energy to improve the appearance of the skin. The first wavelength optimizes our ability to improve the appearance of brown discoloration of the skin such as seen with sun freckles, photodamage and melasma. The second light component goes more deeply into the skin to target skin texture and improve the appearance of fine lines and acne scars. Downtime is usually only a couple of days to a week.
The Fraxel Repair system is a more aggressive laser treatment that removes a significant portion of the top sun-damaged layer of the skin causing an improvement in skin texture, a reduction in the number of sun freckles, and improvement in the appearance of lines and wrinkles. In response to this laser treatment, the skin produces new collagen which produces some tissue tightening as well. Downtime is generally 7-10 days, but the skin may remain pink for up to a month requiring cosmetic camouflage i.e. make-up.
I had a fraxel re:pair in october and ever since then i have had very chapped lips, i was wondering if it was the fraxel that contributed to this, I had similar experience when i was using accutane a few year back and was wondering if the fraxel is working similar to the way the accutane worked for me, which i must say was spectacular!!!!
I would agree with Dr. Persky that I have not had the experience of patients complaining of dry skin several months after laser resurfacing. It is not uncommon though after Accutane use to have dry skin.
