I'm trying to find a surgeon that is experienced in & good at chin reduction surgery (chin is vertically too long & pointy). I am specifically needing a surgeon that is properly certified & in the North Texas region although anywhere in TX will do. I cannot find a board certified plastic surgeon to do this & then I find one that may do this but he is not board certified in plastic surgery, he is a DDS & does oral & maxillofacial surgery. I'm scared I won't find a good doctor that does this!
I would recommend you see one of my partners who have expertise in maxillofacial surgery. I would see Shai Rozen or Tae Chong at 2146452353
I'm considering chin reduction surgery to make face appear shorter & more oval in shape. I feel my chin is very long & pointy! I've had a rhinoplasty for deviated septum & bump removed from my nose but that's it as far as cosmetic surgery. I like the way I look except for my chin as I feel like my eye is always drawn to it in photos when my eyes should be the focus! I want to be able to enjoy my photos not delete 97% of them or more due to my chin!
Greetings, as I mentioned in your previous question, chin reduction is not that common a procedure and requires a complete analysis to determine what is appropriate. In your case, it appears that you have a prominent chin and I think a further analysis would definitely be warranted as surgical correction is likely possible.
I can never find this proceedure listed on many doctor & plastic surgery websites. I'd love it if you could elaborate on the proceedures involved, the risks, the downtime, & the cost. Recommendations for skilled chin reduction professionals in the North TX area would be greatly appreciated!(I have included a photo of myself in my profile so feel free to share your thoughts on my chin & how can I acheive a shorter, more oval face shape. I have had a rhinoplasty but nothing else cosmetic.)
Unfortunately I could not bring up your profile to speak to your particular situation but in a general chin reduction is not as common as chin augmentation. Chin reduction requires a rather complex analysis of both static and motion of the chin and sometimes x-rays to determine if the prominence is more bone or soft tissue. In some cases, a decrease in the height or width of the lower jaw bone in the chin area is necessary. In others, reduction of the fat and muscle of the chin pad is necessary. Sometimes a recreation of the natural dip between the lower lip and chin is necessary. For other patients, augmentation of other parts of the face may be necessary to balance a natural but prominent chin.
