Is it Wrong to Try and Negotiate a Slightly Lower Price for Surgery?

i've been to my cosmetic doctor 3 times. i've referred 4 people to him for major body makeovers. I want to go back to him for a tummy tuck but his cost is a little high. i don't want to go anywhere else. Is it still wrong for me to ask him for a better price? To make it a little more affordable for me?

A: The art of negotiation.

Many patients ask for a discount and say that they will refer patients to you if you give them a discount. If you can show that you truly are the reason for these four  patients came to the doctor he or she would probable consider a discount of some amount.

Is There an Option For a Skin Only Tummy Tuck? (photo)

I had a perfect stomach; even after my 1st pregnancy. Now, I just had twins 3 mths ago & there's so much excess skin on my upper & lower abdomen (the muscles all seen to be intact). I have just 11 more lbs to lose. Am I a candidate for a skin only abdominoplasty w/o touching the muscles? Also, if I was to proceed with the surgery would it be ok to have another baby 3 yrs from now if the muscles are excluded from the surgery? I understand it may be best to wait, but I'd rather get this resolved.

A: Abdominoplasty after child birth

Based on the picture that came with your question if that is your abdomin and you are planning to have another child in three years I recomend that you not have any procedure until after the last child you plan on having. When an abdominoplasty is done after a having a baby the muscles are separated and it you had twins they are likely much further apart and a muscle plication is almost always benificial .

A: dog ears after abdominoplasty/tummy tuck

Your results look good for two weeks out, but it is hard to grade the result with no preoperative photos.

There will always be some fullness and swelling above the incision for a few months after tummy tuck,  as the drainage from the upper abdomen into the groin is interrupted by the incision. This will resolve over time.

You may have a small bulge laterally on the right side, but there is a good chance it will resolve over time. At worst case, it will be very small, if at all long term. I certainly wouldn't worry about it at such an early stage of recovery.

Most plastic surgeons would do a touch up to take out any irregularity at minimal to no cost, but they all have individual policies that should be discussed. Most plastic surgeons just want their patients to be happy as that is a win win situation. Such minor touch ups would be in the best interest of both parties to be taken care of, but in your case, I am not sure that will be necessary.

You have to do the hardest thing for us all...be patient.

Good luck.
