Why do I need to tell my doctor that I tend to get cold sores if I want Restylane injections for lip augmentation?
It is always important for your doctor to know your entire history and this is an important part of that history. Any type of trauma to the lip can activate the virus that causes cold sores. It may be a good idea to take medication to prevent this, or at least be on the look-out for a reactivation.
I am planning on having Restylane done on the lines that lead from nose to jawline. Has anyone had any bad side effects from Restylane or from the anesthetic? What should I expect?
It is always important to think of the risks versus the benefits of any procedure- especially those that are optional. Most people have no problems, but some certainly do. Some of the risks can be avoided by using a skilled physician- others cannot. I will say that of the injectable fillers, I feel that restylane is definitely among the safest! SO if you plan on doing something- restylane is a good choice of filler.
