I had most of breast tissue removed in 1970 from fibrocystic breast disease -at that time everything was yanked -had silicone implants - over time they calcified but no problems - last year I had a really rough mammogram and the left one ruptured - painful with huge hard knots - I am 80 years old and don't require replacements at my age - my internal med doc said they must come out and I am scheduled for a ultra sound at breast clinic next week complications have me worried -I am 80 yrs betty d
At the age of 80 it is not clear that these implants must come out. Are they causing a problem such as pain, granulomas or any other medical problem. A patient is not likely to die because ruptured implants are in the breast pockets but they may have problems with the surgery and anesthesia.
You need to speak with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon regarding the need to have these implants removed and how that would be in your best interest.
I am 26 y/o asian female, 4'10 3/4'', 115lbs. I recently had breast augmentation done on 12/9/2010. The surgeon did a great job and they look amazing even though they have not settle down. I am post op day #4. I have been having upper back pain I assume that my body is not use to it from 34A to 34C (325cc bilaterally gummy bear). I feel them and they are pretty firm right now and high. Strangely every time I touch one particular part of my R breast I feel a sharp pain under my R scapula (Shoulder blade). I can not reproduce the same symptom on the left side. My friends think that I am having a buyer's remorse but I really don't feel comfortable with them at all. When I am laying in bed I feel like someone is sitting on my chest and its hard to breathe. my concern is how long do I need to recover before removing them?
If you only had the augmentation 4 days ago I would suggest you wait a few weeks before having them removed as most of your symptoms will go away.
If you prefer they can be removed right away.
Wondering if it is possible to have a removal of implants during the same surgery as a lift? (I've Had Them in 17 Years)
In a word , Yes. This is not an unusual request and it is done frequently is someone is older and no longer desires large breast. The incisions would be like those of a breast reduction.
