Since my insurance wont pay, I cant afford to get all of it fixed on my own. What should I get fixed immediately and is there anything I can do to help. I have a hard time getting out of my bed due to lack of muscles in my stomach. My back hurts all the time since its doing the work that my stomach muscles should do. I get infections due to the flap being so long and it rubbing. I have done physical therapy and they said until I get my muscles fixed, they cant help. I am lost and needing relief.
Unfortunately, insurance does not pay for repair of diastasis recti, only for true hernia formation. Muscle repair at the time of tummy tuck will usually fix the problem.
There's a a huge gap in my stomach muscles & hernia from pregnancy, I look pregnant. My chiropractor attributes it to core weakness. My stomach gets upset when I run- nothing feels tucked in. My hernia is painful with exercise.Had a consultation w/a PS, and he said most PS’s won't deal with insurance companies, but he’d fix my hernia along with the TT without charging extra. Are there surgeons out there who work with insurance companies? Thoughts on going through a residency program to save $?
Thank you for your question and photo. This photo does not look natural. Please see two or more board-certified plastic surgeons in person for a consultation and examination. If you do have a hernia, hernias are usually a covered benefit under insurance. Tummy tuck is a cosmetic surgery.
I have diastasis recti and lots of wrinkly loose skin from having 3 large babies. Before the kids I did extremely taxing ab routines of 40-60 minutes of various exercises working all the ab muscles. I also do six or more hours of cardio per week and weight train. If I get a full tummy tuck and repair the diastasis will I eventually be able to resume all of these exercises? I've heard some women are instructed never to do things like pushups etc. Will the stitching be like cheesewire on my abs?
Yes, with normal healing you should be able to resume all activity at 6-8 weeks after surgery. Discuss specific instruction with the board-certified plastic surgeon you choose to do you surgery. Good Luck!
