What Procedure Would Be Best After Pregnancy: Tummy Tuck or Liposculpture?

After 3 pregnancys i weight 135lb and I'm 5'5. I'm thinking of getting a tummy tuck, but peple tell me I would be a better candidate for a Liposculpture abdominal? I do have stretch mark in my abdominal area.

A: Liposuction or tummy tuck?

The answer to your question depends on how much extra skin you have.  Liposuction only removes the excess fat.  If you need removal of skin, fat, and muscle tightening, then a tummy tuck can give you more benefit.

To be sure what is right for you, see two or more board-certified plastic surgeons in your area for consultation. Best of luck.

Liquid Liposuction/Liposoft...returning to Cardio Exercise?

I had Liposoft 3 days ago on my Inner Thighs, Flanks, and Lower Abdomen. Just wondering when I can return to cardio exercise - elliptical trainer etc. I usually train 6-7 days a week and am very frustrated by doing nothing. The pain is not too severe, occasional electric-type pains in the treated areas.

A: Exercise after Liposuction

Although you should be asking your doctor this, I can say what the experience of my patients has been. We encourage brisk walking the next day or so after liposuction. There should be no jarring or impact movement however. Wearing the liposuction garment will help support the tissues and protect against injury to the healing tissues. Our patients have had no problems with exercise on an elliptical machine a week after liposuction.

After Liposculpture, Day 1 Looked Great, Day 7 I Could See All the Fat Coming Back

I had liposculpture on outer+inner thighs, hips, and arms one week ago. On Day 1 the thighs looked good, 7 days later, I can see the fat coming back to the areas which it was removed from (making me look pear-shaped, where as on Day 1 I had no bulges out of my thighs) Could this be water-retention? I've had enough time to let the swelling subside. Is it normal to see better results on days 1 and 2 than days 7 and 8? Am I looking at having a 2nd procedure?

A: Swelling after Liposuction

Seeing good results on day one and then to temporarily have swelling is very common. I warn people against depression in the week after liposuction.

The swelling that occurs is similar to what you might expect if you sprained your ankle. The fluid swelling is what you are seeing.

Then at two to four weeks it is common for the area to become unusually firm and knotty under the skin. Again this is just an expected phase and resolves with little or no additional care.

After liposuction, take care of yourself by paying attention to proper diet and exercise. In just a short while, you should see those results you are hoping for.
