Can Breast Surgery Scars Be Treated with Chemical Peel Instead of Laser Treatments? If So Which Acid Peel is Best? (photo)

I am one year after mastopexy surgery. The scars are smooth, just a bit pink not bad. Can those scars be traded with chemical peel instead of expensive laser treatments? If so which acid peel is the best? Thank You!

A: chemical peels for scars

A chemical peel will not decrease the redness in scars. Lasers can help but so will additional time.

Will Chemical Peels Treat Large Pores?

hey i am 27 years old and having good health i have got large pores on my face and someone has suggested me chemical peeling but at the same time my skin is having redness on cheeks sometimes , one year back i started to use anti aging treatment also but now i ma worried about my skin it has become so much sensitive even to a cold cream kindly tell me what to do in this age should i start chemical peel or any antiaging cream or anythig and what to do do to have young looking skin.

A: Prescription Retinoids and alpha hydroxy acids are the best things for pore size If you look at a pore histologically, it is an invagination of the skin and so contIns an epithelium just like the skin. And, as the pore gets deeper it gets wider. So, laser resurfacing can make your pores actually larger because as it takes layers of skin away the width of the pore increases. With medium depth and deep peels, the acid coats the skin and the lumen of the pore. It exfoliates the skin within the pore and on the surface of the skin. Temporarily the pore size with be reduced because of swelling within the pores. But, eventually pore size will return. When you use topical retinoids and alpha/beta hydroxy acids on the skin daily, the debris within the pores is cleaned out and the pore will collapse giving the illusion that the pore is smaller. So, the key is to maintain exfoliation and excavation of the exfoliates skin from the pores on an ongoing basis.

What is the Most Effective Chemical Peel?

What is the most effective chemical peel?

A: It depends on what you are trying to accomplish If acne is your problem and you don't have sensitive dry skin, Salacylic acid peels are great. For acne or rosacea patients with sensitive skin, TCA peels at 10-18% are great, especially when combined with calming ingredients. The phenol peel is the most effective for wrinkles but there are considerable risks. Glycolic peels are great for superficiAl mild pigmentation issues. The 35% TCA is workhorse peel which is great for pigmentation, large pores, acne scarring, fine lines, and some coarse lines. The Melanagr peel by Young Pharmaceuticals is great for melanoma and pigmentation as well.
