I had Zoom teeth whitening 3 days ago. Apparently, some solution seeped under the protective gum coating and left a nasty burn on my gums. It now looks like a blister or an ulcer. I've seen this reported by a number of people, but no one ever mentions how long it takes to heal (or if it ever does). Should I be concerned about permanent gum damage? The first picture was taken before, the second picture was taken right after the procedure, and the 3rd picture was ta just now (3 days later).
The Chemical burn you experienced is an occasional side effect of Zoom whitening or other brands of Power Bleaching. Generally it is a white spot that goes away in 1 -7 days and is usually painless. Most dentists have some Vitamin E cream to apply or you can get some Vitamin E capsules and use the liquid inside for faster healing. Thanks for the nice photos.
I would like to enhance my smile with a whiter and brighter smile. I have lost a lot of enamel on my front teeth and I am not sure using the zoom bleaching product would be a good choice. My teeth are very sensitive. Should I consider cosmetic dentistry? Thanks, Lindsey
All whitening products bleach the enamel only. If you have lost most of the enamel, the result would be minimal and sensitivity will likely be an issue. Veneers or Bonding would be a better option for your situation.
I'm about to purchase a coupon for exam/x-ray,cleaning & Zoom whitening for $250.00. Should I be leary. It is with a local dentist using a new compay that does online coupons and say it is an $800.00 Value
The marketing program you describe is very common and can bring many new patients to a dental practice. The important thing to remember (regardless of how you found the dentist )is that you should ask your friends about the dentist, check their website for credentials and a caring attitude, and then be observant of the Doctor and Team caring approach to providing dentistry.
