I just came back from a consult. I'm looking at getting a tummy tuck with lipo in my love handles. I'm 5'4" tall and weigh 140lbs. At my lightest of 128lbs my waist was just under 36". I want to not only get rid of my fat and hanging skin in my belly but also get rid of my love handles and back fat. My PS recommended a belt procedure with lipo for best results but this scares me and is more money than I want to spend. He said love handles are a hard area to lipo. What do you recommend?
Dear mjt: Thanks for providing you photos, although an in-person consult allows the best assessment.
Liposuction of the flank and iliac areas (love handles) is not difficult and often provides wonderful improvements. Waistlines shrink. Clothing fits better. The figure has more of an hour-glass shape. Skin looseness does not commonly happen. The buttock area looks better without the excess above it.
This is often combined with abdominoplasty - tummy tuck or liposuction of the abdomen, thighs, etc.
PS: You mentioned about 12 pounds of extra weight. If you are considering significant weight loss, do that before your planned surgery and your surgeon will be able to give you even better results.
Best wishes
I am 5'10" right now and I weight 215 lbs. I am looking to have a Liposuction or Tummy tuck surgery will doing this help me get to the ideal weight off 180-190 lbs?
I know it is better to exercise but I am asking If I can do it at this weight and how many pounds can I get rid off. Thanks.

In order to achieve the best surgical results from the liposuction of tummy tuck, you would want to be at or near you goal weight first.
The removal loose skin and / or fat with liposuction or tummy tuck will allow you to look like you lost significant weight, however you'll be surprised how little pounds you actually loose.
Liposuction is best at reducing localized excess fat. Tummy tuck is best at removing loose skin and fat, and improving muscle tone of the abdomen. They give the best results at the completion of a weight loss plan. That does not mean that a patient needs to loose weight before they have those procedures, but if a patient plans weight loss, they are best to do the weight loss first.
i saw the blog post on realself where a doctor in a video calls Lifesculpt a god send for people with excess/ exercise resistant fat. What is lifesculpt and is it really as good as they say?
Pardon my mixed metaphors.
The most important factor in you having a good result isn't a machine, a technology, or a marketing budget. The most important factor is your plastic surgeon - his or her skill and experience. Look for the most qualified, experienced, respected, trusted surgeon, and seek their recommendations for your cosmetic surgery concern (liposuction, etc.)
When you see brand name operations or trademarked techniques, question the situation very carefully. Most quality surgeons avoid gimmicks.
